El estudio indagó la relación entre los valores humanos y los rasgos de personalidad en deportistas de diferentes modalidades. Participaron 145 deportistas (58.7% de género masculino, 41.3% de género femenino) de fútbol, levantamiento olímpico de pesas y rugby, de entre 18 y 35 años (M=22.51, DT=4.91). Se administró un cuestionario sociodemográfico, el Perfil de Valores Personales (PVQ) y el Big Five Inventory (BFI). Se encontraron diferencias significativas en función del género en algunos valores, pero no en la personalidad. Se hallaron diferencias de importancia en los valores y rasgos de personalidad según el deporte y, asimismo, correlaciones significativas entre ambos constructos en la muestra en general y en función del género. Se analiza la importancia de los valores y la personalidad como intervinientes en el desarrollo y rendimiento de los deportistas y la relevancia de formar a los agentes sociales vinculados al deporte a partir del conocimiento de estas cuestiones.
