El presente artículo reflexiona sobre los usos populares que poseen diversas narrativas audiovisuales generadas por inteligencia artificial en el ecosistema digital contemporáneo marcado por la convergencia mediática y la cultura participativa. Repasando ejemplos surgidos de plataformas de consumo audiovisual como YouTube y Twitch, y de redes sociales como Twitter, el objetivo es describir como las narrativas audiovisuales basadas en inteligencia artificial poseen un vínculo que se presenta paradójico, al ser reconocidas como pastiches que recrean la idea de la cancelación del futuro. Limitándose a la imitación intertextual de estilos visuales de décadas anteriores, consagrados en el cine y la televisión, los contenidos analizados no realizan innovaciones desde el lenguaje y la narración audiovisual, sino que se enmarcan en una combinación de estéticas que remiten un pasado cultural retro y nostálgico sin ningún tipo de finalidad crítica. Desde este curioso vínculo, basado únicamente en la copia de artefactos culturales precedentes, estas narrativas populares abandonan la promesa de innovación y novedad de la inteligencia artificial, instalándose en un espacio de significación que recurre a la imitación del pasado como estética de consumo digital actual.
El arte audiovisual del siglo XXI con mayor frecuencia ha generado obras fílmicas de presupuesto limitado de gran resonancia a nivel público. Es el caso de Nomadland, dirigida en 2020 por la realizadora china Chloé Zhao, galardonada con el Oscar a la Mejor Película. El filme posee una lógica de distribución que recorrió los principales circuitos de exhibición comercial y servicios de streaming que problematiza el rol del artista en el cine independiente posmoderno. Entendiendo que la película se inscribe en una estrategia de negocio propia de un realismo capitalista, cuya finalidad es el marketing y el desentendimiento de un compromiso social efectivo, se propone como objetivo indagar, desde el contenido y la distribución de la película, de qué forma el trabajo creativo del artista se ve afectado cuando el capitalismo impone fórmulas de producción tomando a lo cultural como estrategia de mercado.

El documental transmedia con fines sociales posee una relevancia cada vez mayor en la actual cultura audiovisual, evidenciando una modificación en el accionar de la realización cinematográfica suscitada por la hibridación de soportes, formatos y lenguajes y la apertura de un espacio de producción multiforme que expande el uso de distintas instancias discursivas. Fomentadas por la creación y la participación creativa de sus espectadores, resulta pertinente indagar sobre las estrategias utilizadas por el documental transmedia iberoamericano para visibilizar las problemáticas de la comunidad LGBTQI desde tres factores propios de la era transmediática: la convergencia, la inteligencia colectiva y la cultura participativa. Mediante el estudio de caso de La primavera rosa y La otra orilla, dos producciones transmediales de carácter social, se propone como objetivo explorar las posibilidades del formato a la hora de generar movilización social y cultural. Debido a la convergencia mediática de la era digital, en el panorama audiovisual actual se genera una proliferación de estrategias participativas donde los movimientos sociales utilizan la representación documental como herramienta ideológica que trata de incidir en los discursos que circulan en la sociedad tanto a nivel simbólico como de carácter ideológico.
