Hybrid denture prosthesis have been used popularly in prosthodontics as a tooth replacement option. with some controversy. Hybrid dentures consist of one of the most novel options in the restoration of the edentulous arches. The implants are only placed only in the anterior region and the prosthesis is provided in the posterior region with the assistance of a cantilevered bar or framework. Conventionally the framework for such a prosthesis is fabricated using titanium or cobalt-chromium metal. Traditionally the frameworks were fabricated using metal casting. However, with the advent of digital dentistry CAD CAM frameworks have become very popular which have allowed the use of an array of materials such as zirconia, peek amongst other traditionally used metals. With a focus on materials used in the fabrication process of hybrid dentures, the goal of this study was to summarise the pertinent literature in this area.In conclusion, hybrid dentures seem like a viable treatment option which can be fabricated using multiple materials such as PEEK,zirconia, titanium, cast base metals, noble metals etc.
This study evaluates the immediate bone level changes around different implant systems from placement to 3 months post - operative radiographically. The assessment of bone loss at the crestal module level of different implant systems relates the findings to the image on a radiograph. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the immediate changes to marginal bone level radiographically around different implant systems. A total of 100 implant radiographs were assessed which were placed in different areas of the jaw. It was found that thread exposure of Straumann roxolid SLActive™ surface implants was least compared to Nobel Biocare™ conical connection / Groovy and Equinox™ implant systems. Thus, radiographs serve as critical parameters to evaluate marginal bone changes surrounding dental implants.
Hybrid dentures consist of one of the most popular options in the fixed restoration of the edentulous arch. For a successful and durable prosthesis it is of utmost importance to pay good attention to the design and fabrication of such implant frameworks. Conventionally the framework was fabricated using traditional metal casting. However, with the advent of digital dentistry CAD CAM frameworks have become popular and their fabrication much easier and efficient. With a focus on design of implant frameworks and the digital fabrication process of hybrid dentures, the goal of this study was to summarise the pertinent literature in this area.In conclusion, hybrid dentures seem like a viable treatment option when designed correctly and CAD CAM technique seems like a popular and efficient technique to do so.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
