Wireless Body Area Networks (WBAN) is becoming highly distinctive within health application. Security is important for individual nodes because such applications deal with sensitive data. Within WBAN, approaches with higher security with less computation are preferred along with smaller key size because of limitations of WBAN. However reducing key size can result in reduction in security level. In this paper we propose the use of message authentication for WBAN with pre-processed symmetric RSA (PSRSA). PSRSA is based on RSA with smaller key with multiple layers of pre-processing to increase the total combinations. Based on our analysis, PSRSA provides high security level with smaller key size compare to RSA. We implemented PSRSA to check feasibility and tested couple of scenarios.
I also cannot appreciate enough of the committee members of my thesis, Dr. Kwanghee Won, Dr. Yi Liu, and my graduate faculty representative, Dr. Lan Xu for their help on my thesis in the final defense. Due to their contributions, I was able to improve the quality of my thesis deeply and rationally. I would also like to thank the senior CCT Lab members, and I will never forget the days we studied together in the lab. Finally, I cannot express enough appreciation towards my family members for their invaluable support for me. Without their help, I was not able to continue my academic career.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
