Prevention of ocular disorders and preservation of ocular health has become essential, as changing lifestyle has resulted in many eye disorders and brought miseries to daily life. Our ancient seers have also given prime importance to eye by considering it as the most vital sense organ among all sense organs. To name a few diseases like dry eye, computer vision syndrome, age related macular degeneration, glaucoma, cataract, diabetic retinopathy, hypertensive retinopathy etc may occur due to defective life style changes particularly in the busy modern life. Association between such defective lifestyle measures and subsequent eye diseases and their prevention procedures are searched and reviewed from different Ayurvedic literatures and online sources. Ayurveda found to describe vividly about ocular health and hygiene. So an attempt has been made to explore the procedures for preservation of eye health in relation to certain factors like-relation of eye diseases with mind, diet and activities, sleep, daily and seasonal regimen related to eye health, occupational eye health and disorders, aging process and poor vision and rasayan (Rejuvenation) therapy for preserving good vision. Time tested procedures like Anjana (collyrium), Aschyotan (eye drop), Snana(bath),Padabhyanga(foot massage with oil), Nasya (nasal application of drugs), Abhyanga (oil massage) are considered as highly effective daily procedures for the maintenance of eye health. Various Yogasan and Satkriya are also effective for ocular health and better eye sight.
Prelude: Road traffic accidents (RTAs) cause injuries, disabilities, and fatalities and are the major health issues globally in developing countries and also in India. The 29km stretch of NH-55(old NH-42) between Tata steel LTD, Meramundali to Angul has turned into a death trap for the 29km stretch is alarming and highly prone to RTAs after the development of many large-scale industries and townships, which needs planning and formulations. Objective: To address the death trap in the Angul sector in NH-55, RTAs are collected and alternate commuting for the pedestrians, two or more wheeled motorized/manual vehicles for road use has been suggested. The present traffic problems faced include heavy traffic, deteriorated roads, blocking of foresight, traffic jams, RTA’s, pollution, etc. Methods: Present research aims at forming a database for road conditions, vulnerable places, RTAs frequency, and severity data collected from authentic sources from time to time. Analysis of the data is done regarding accident frequency and severity index. A thorough study of causes and types of accidents has been discussed with RTAs addressable. Conclusions: Frequent RTAs, road traffic injuries (RTIs), are found due to excessive use of mobile phones, busy traffic and fatigue crews, unconscious pedestrians, reckless two-wheelers drivers, and distracted driving of loaded trucks are found to be the major reasons for road crashes in the area. Improvised driver conduct, use of eye tracker, community education, traffic control enforcement, or bypass can address the trend in the frequency of RTAs and RTIs in NH-55. The immediate action plan is the construction of four black spots, overbridges, and vehicle under pass to complete the under-construction activities to follow the vision zero of SDG 9 and SDG 11.
Silent mating type information regulation 2 homolog 1 (SIRT1) is an NAD+ dependent class III histone deacetylase (HDAC) which plays a vital role in cell survival, senescence and metabolism. SIRT1 is overexpressed in several cancers, including breast cancer. Due to the lack of endocrine therapy for ER-ve breast cancers, it is essential to identify the molecular targets having therapeutic importance. SIRT1 is a known target gene of estrogen receptor α (ERα) and well associated with ERα deacetylation. Transcription factor Estrogen related receptors (ERRs) share sequence homology with ERs in DNA binding domain, therefore possibility of sharing target genes between them is high. Our present study aim to elucidate the role of ERRβ in the regulation of SIRT1 in breast cancer tumorigenesis. SIRT1 was highly up-regulated in ER + ve breast cancer cells and tissues. Analysis of 5’ upstream region of SIRT1 suggested the presence of six putative ERRE sites and in-vitro and in-vivo studies confirmed the binding of ERRβ to them. We found SIRT1 to be up-regulated in ERRβ overexpressed ER + ve breast cancer cells. Furthermore, our results suggested the up-regulation of SIRT1 upon ectopic expression of ERRβ along with PCAF. We also proved the tumorigenic role of SIRT1 with enough evidence showing the significant role of SIRT1 in cell proliferation, migration and colony formation capacity. Collectively our results suggest the tumorigenic role of SIRT1 in the breast cancer and SIRT1 inhibitors might serve as potential therapeutic drugs for the treatment of breast cancer.
This paper proposes an improved version of CLONALG, Clone Selection Algorithm based on Artificial Immune System(AIS), that matches with the conventional classifiers in terms of accuracy tested on the same data sets. Clonal Selection Algorithm is an artificial immune system model. Instead of randomly selecting antibodies, it is proposed to take k memory pools consisting of all the learning cases. Also, an array averaged over the pools is created and is considered for cloning. Instead of using the best clone and calculating the similarity measure and comparing with the original cell, here, k best clones were selected, the average similarity measure was evaluated and noise was filtered. This process enhances the accuracy from 76.9 percentage to 94.2 percentage, ahead of the conventional classification methods.
