The synthesis and characterization of substituted benzimidazolin‐2‐selones (4c–4d) and ‐tellone (4i) are reported. Upon reaction with halogens (I2, Br2, and Cl2), these selones and tellone yield dihaloselones/tellone (5c–5i). The reaction of dihaloselones with elemental tellurium/tin/bismuth leads to the formation of selone‐coordinated monomeric tellurium tetrahalides, tellurium dibromide (8), tin tetrahalides, and bismuth triiodide adducts (7a–7g), respectively. The structures of the tellurium tetrahalide (7a, 7d, and 7g), tellurium dibromide (8), tin tetrahalide, and bismuth triiodide adducts have been established by single‐crystal X‐ray analysis. The bismuth triiodide adduct is the first neutral tetrameric structure with selones. The bismuth adduct has been used as a single‐source precursor for the synthesis of bismuth selenide (Bi2Se3) nanoparticles, which were characterized by powder XRD patterns. The TEM images show the hexagonal shape of the nanoparticles.
Due to the reversal in electron counts for aromaticity and antiaromaticity in the closed-shell singlet state (normally ground state, S 0 )a nd lowest pp*t riplet state (T 1 or T 0 ), as given by Hückel's and Baird's rules, respectively, fulvenes are influenced by their substituents in the opposite manner in the T 1 and S 0 states. This effect is causedb yareversal in the dipole moment when going from S 0 to T 1 as fulvenes adapt to the differencei ne lectron counts for aromaticity in variouss tates;t hey are aromaticc hameleons. This report documents the synthesis, characterization, and computational evaluation of two isomeric borepin-containing polycyclic aromatics. The syntheses of these two isomers involved symmetrical disubstituted alkynes that were reduced to Z-olefins followed by borepin formation either through an isolable stannocycle intermediate or directly from the alkene via the trapping of a transient dilithio intermediate. Comparisons of their magnetic, crystallographic, and computational characterization to literature compounds gave valuable insights about the aromaticity of these symmetrically fused [b,f]borepins. The fusion of benzo[b]thiophene units to the central borepin cores forced a high degree of local aromaticity within the borepin moieties relative to other known borepin-based polycyclic aromatics. Each isomer had unique electronic responses in the presence of fluoride anions. The experimental data demonstrate that the local borepin rings in these two compounds have a relatively high amount of aromatic character. Results from quantum chemical calculations provide a more comprehensive understanding of local and global aromatic characters of various rings in fused ring systems built upon boron heterocycles.
The impact of industrialization, on natural resources, human health and environment was not clear till 1960s. Rachel Carson for the first time in 1962 raised important questions about human impact on nature in her book, Silent Spring. With the growing awareness towards sustainable
development, industries and corporations have a major role in environmental degradation and protection thereof. In the past, accounting theories emphasized primarily on financial performance. This awareness
on sustainable development is visible through varied environmental
management mechanisms practiced amongst companies across the world. Environmental concerns are addressed by corporate giants through identification and estimation of environmental costs, benefits, investments, assets and liabilities into main stream accounting and reporting practices, for varied managerial decisions. These focused environmental efforts have sharpened and improved the global reporting
standards. In India, the incorporation of environmental costs and benefits
into mainstream financial reporting is at its nascent stage at present - but it is certain to grow. Indian companies have not yet developed a holistic approach to environmental reporting, as there is lack of environmental reporting guidelines. On the other hand environmental awareness among
Indian stakeholders gets strengthened with advancement in communication technology. High propensity of environmental awareness ensures a more cautious approach among Indian corporations to be environmentally responsible. With the advancement of information and communications technologies, global corporate information disclosures
have been on rise through the medium of internet, as confirmed by various recent national and international surveys. This research has observed that Indian companies follow diverse reporting practices on the internet viz., stand alone environmental reporting (satellite accounts) or
reporting along with the Annual/Financial Reports, or Sustainability Reporting.
Based on our results, we conclude that children with SRNS are less likely to seroconvert with vaccination. A higher dose (double) of hepatitis B vaccine should be used for vaccinating such patients. Anti-HBs titers should be monitored in SRNS patients post-vaccination, and a booster should be given if titers fall to <10 mIU/mL.
