Male Sprague-Dawley rats were trained in an inhibitory avoidance task and injected with saline or tluoxetine (15.0 mglk.g i.p.) immediately after training. Fluoxetine significantly facilitated retention assessed on a retention test 48 h later. In contrast, posttraining intra-amygdala injections oftluoxetine (1.0, 3.0, or 10.0 "g) did not modify retention of the inhibitory avoidance task.
