This study was conducted to examine the effects of low-density exercise on physical and psychological function of the frail elderly. The research design was nonequivalent control group pretest-posttest design. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, x2-test, Mann-Whitney U test and Cronbach's ⍺ with SPSS/Win 17.0 program. There was a significant improvement in Lt. Grip strength(U=56.00, p<.000), Rt. Grip strength(U=40.00, p<.000), TUG(U=95.00, p<.022), Depression(U=94.00, p<.011) in the experimental group compared to the control group. The low-density exercise program showed the effects to improve the physical and psychological functions of the frail elderly. This study aims to provide effects of therapeutic techniques as well as basic materials of safety by comparing and analyzing the effects of hamstring flexibility and dynamic stability of lower lumbar according to Stretching and Massage Techniques to adults with reduced the flexibility of hamstring. METHODS: This study conducted differential diagnosis through sit and reach test(SRT) and Schober test to select subjects who have shortened hamstring without any spinal problem. Selected subjects were divided into two groups randomly; HSG(Hamstring Stretching Group, n=8) and HMG(Hamstring Massage Group, n=8) and they received treatment for 2 weeks. To take statistics, SRT and dynamic view using x-ray were used.
Purpose: This study was to analyze research reports published in Korea on physical activity for adult. Method: Based on inclusion criteria, 11 research reports were included in this review. Published year of selected articles was between 1990 and 2012. Eleven studies were analyzed by guidelines of the physical activity program done by experimental and quantitative research. Result: The characteristics of objects were mostly of non disease adult, over 65 years old, and female. Most educational content were about physical activity understanding, diet, nutrition. A large percentage of outcome indicators were body composition, physical function. Conclusion: Various types of physical activity program in Korea were performed by researchers. Therefore, we need to develop the standard protocol, to add educational intervention, and to study cost effectiveness of healthy.
The purpose of this study was to identify the effects of a visiting exercise program for physical activity promotion on physical (grip strength, static balance) and psychological (depression, perceived health status) function of frail elderly patients receiving home visiting service care. Subjects included a total of 49 patients; 24 in the control group and 25 in the experimental group. The visiting exercise program was carried out 16 times for 8 weeks. The collected data were analyzed by χ2-test and t-test using SPSS/WIN 21.0 program. There was a significant improvement in the left grip strength (t=2.19, p<.000), right grip strength (t=5.07, p=.032), static balance (t=3.98, p=.050), and depression (t=-8.83, p=.009) in the experimental group compared with the control group. The visiting exercise program for physical activity promotion was effective on physical and psychological functions for frail elderly patients receiving home visiting service care. Further research is needed in a longitudinal study incorporating various centers to examine the maintenance of such effects.
