Single-electron oxidation and α-deprotonation
of tertiary
anilines using Fe(phen)3(PF6)3 afford
α-aminoalkyl radicals, which can be coupled with electrophilic
partners to afford various tetrahydroquinolines. Mechanistically,
the Fe(phen)
n
2+/3+ catalytic
cycle is maintained by O2 or a TBHP oxidant, and the presence
of the oxygen bound iron complex, Fe(III)–OO(H), was elucidated
by electron paramagnetic resonance and electrospray ionization mass
spectrometry. This redox-selective nonheme iron catalyst behaves similarly
to bioinspired heme iron catalysts.
The current study was conducted to evaluate the effect of music enrichment on the live body weight of chickens and meat quality grade of the carcasses. Fourteen flocks at four broiler farms with identical windowless houses were provided with identical starter and finisher diets. These were either exposed to classical music or not exposed to any music from the starter to slaughter age. At 30 days posthatch, the chickens were transported from farms to a slaughterhouse. Two hundred carcasses from each flock were randomly selected for measurement of the carcass traits by the licensed meat inspectors at the slaughterhouse. The live body weights at the slaughter age were not significantly different between the two treatments. In addition, music enrichment did not affect meat freshness (i.e., torrymeter values) nor did it affect other carcass trait variables including percentage of bruises, flesh blemishes, abnormalities, and quality A grade. In conclusion, music enrichment did not affect the body weight or carcass quality of broiler chickens.
Purpose: To present the first report describing lesions of osteoma cutis on the upper eyelid and medial canthus. Case summary: A 4-year-old female complained of a right upper eyelid mass. The examination showed a well-delineated, mild bluish-colored, hard mass over the upper eyelid and the medial canthus measuring 10 × 10 mm and 2 × 2 mm. During the cutaneous examination, her forearm, left shin, right dorsum of the foot, neck, and abdominal wall also showed well-delineated, mild bluish-colored, immobile hard masses, similar to the upper eyelid mass. A right upper eyelid and medial canthus mass excision was performed and a biopsy specimen was collected. Hematoxyline and eosin staining showed a mature bone in the dermis with spicules of bone and osteoblasts. She was finally diagnosed with osteoma cutis on the upper eyelid and the medial canthus. Conclusions: Osteoma cutis is a rare, benign skin disorder characterized by bone formation in the skin. Albright hereditary osteodystrophy, which causes a metabolic disorder, should also be considered to prevent complications.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
