The increase visibility of philosophical counseling and therapy is a consequence of the importance of communication in the life of the postmodern individual, and especially of the development of communication technologies, which entail the need for the development of technologies of the self, personal development, and authenticity. One of the most prominent voices in affirming the importance of philosophy applied to personal, professional and organizational life, especially as philosophical counseling and philosophical therapy, is the philosopher Lou Marinoff. He convinces us of the importance of philosophy of communication, philosophical dialogue as a therapeutic method, existential counseling and ethical counseling. The need for philosophical counseling is closely linked to the dialogical nature of the human condition and the individual"s need to build a coherent life project based on a philosophy of life assumed as a personal perspective of understanding, interpretation and valorization of the world.
Postmodern man has a strong drive to build a horizon of life quality, meaning, and authentic living experiences that he increasingly wishes to be part of his personal life and public life. His action in the public space is based on a special vocation to cultivate the qualities of institutional leadership and informal leadership, including public sector leaders. Every time, philosophy makes available instruments for learning, communication, meaningfulness and reality construction meant to meet the human need for authenticity. The present text conveys a few aspects by which appropriating a life philosophy may ensure leaders' personal development and may increase their influence upon the others.
There is a growing need for ethical counseling on behalf of all organizations. Thus, various practices that are typical for philosophical counseling are also becoming, to a greater extent, a part of the development of organizations. Especially the growing complexity of organizational communication within the context of digital era results in the increase of the number and difficulty of the ethical dilemmas that arise in the area of both internal and external communication of organizations. Here one can witness a series of interventions of organizational ethical counseling. The major impact of the "digital turn" in the field of organizational communication generates more complex and challenging situations that need to be addressed in innovative ways. While the major importance of ethical reflection in organizational communication has become a generally accepted fact, the paper underscores the potential held by the ethical and philosophical counseling in organizational communication. Given their efficiency to value personal resources in ensuring an ethical climate, to balance the internal and external dimensions in the plan of the organizational communication and especially to create a vision of the organization, ethical counseling is similar in importance to what we identify as a personal vision of the world assumed at a personal level.
Primo Levi’s If This Is a Man is a central work in understanding the way in which the subjective memory of a Holocaust survival receives a general meaning. This requires a context in which the duty to prevent the repetition of the tragic events endured by European Jews becomes a universal responsibility we must assume. This text examines the process of dehumanization and total degradation of a human being in the conditions of the death camp, and examines the antidote that Levi proposes for escaping the state of existential pathology. Particular emphasis is placed on the way in which Levi, who embraces secular humanist values, uses religious background and religious symbolic structures in order to provide additional understanding of the fact that in the absence of God, the world itself becomes void of humanity.
