ResumoSabendo que a cultura brasileira está permeada por elementos da cultura afro inseridos no país desde o início da colonização e que a herança africana é visivelmente rica e presente na vida do povo brasileiro certifica-se, então, da importância de discutir essa temática. Durante muito tempo a inserção da cultura Afro brasileira sofreu e ainda sofre preconceitos, então, foi criada a lei 10.639/2003 com a intenção de reforçar a cultura Afro-brasileira e criar mecanismos para abolir os preconceitos até então visíveis quanto ao afrodescendente. Essa pesquisa visa mostrar a importância da inserção da cultura Afro-brasileira nas escolas, os motivos que impulsionaram a criação da Lei 10.639/2003 e sua contribuição no contexto escolar. A metodologia usada na construção desse artigo foi uma revisão de literatura estudando legislações que versam sobre o tema e autores como KOSHIBA, PILETTI, CARDOSO, entre outros. AbstractKnowing that the Brazilian culture is permeated by elements of Afro culture inserted in the country since the beginning of the colonization and that the African heritage is visibly rich and present in the life of the Brazilian people, it is therefore important to discuss this theme. For a long time the insertion of Brazilian Afro culture suffered and still suffers from prejudices, so Law 10.639 / 2003 was created with the intention of reinforcing the Afro-Brazilian culture and creating mechanisms to abolish prejudices hitherto visible regarding Afrodescendants. This research aims to show the importance of the insertion of Afro-Brazilian culture in schools, the reasons that led to the creation of Law 10.639 / 2003 and its contribution in the school context. The methodology used in the construction of this article was a literature review studying laws that deal with the subject and authors such as KOSHIBA, PILETTI, CARDOSO, among others.
