A popularização dos meios e recursos digitais de comunicação dissemina as narrativas não-lineares e contribui para agravar a crise do ensino presencial, com a expansão de modelos de escola presencial-virtual (EPV). Com a popularização das novas mídias derivadas da internet, vem ocorrendo uma gradual desmassificação da comunicação midiática, em um contexto que aguça a percepção individual e social dos individuos, que são atraídos pelo imenso fluxo global de mensagens informacionais (BRIGGS; BURKE, 2006). Essa transição dos métodos pedagógicos presenciais para o modelo de educação virtual, midiática e interativa ganhou um novo formato na rede pública de ensino estadual de São Paulo em 2012, com o lançamento dos cursos optativos de inglês e de espanhol para os alunos do ensino médio estadual, mediados por computador e com conteúdos produzidos pela Escola Virtual de Programas Educacionais do Estado de São Paulo - Evesp. Ainda prosseguem nas salas presenciais da rede de ensino as turmas numerosas, com falta de material didático-pedagógico adequado, em aulas conduzidas por professores cujos repertórios estão distantes do cotidiano dos alunos. Nesse contexto são verificadas as performances qualitativas bastante negativas da aprendizagem das quatro habilidades comunicativas: ouvir, falar, ler e escrever (CAMERON, 2001). A pesquisa que realizamos é de acompanhamento e análise das experiências de ensino de inglês e espanhol mediado pelo computador na plataforma Evesp e dos cursos presenciais de inglês e espanhol dos Centros de Estudos de Línguas (CELs) para o Ensino Médio e do projeto piloto Early Bird, de ensino-aprendizagem de inglês para o Ensino Fundamental, todos no âmbito da Diretoria de Ensino de Bauru (SP).

O presente artigo discute o dialogismo em Mikhail Bakhtin e a fundamentação do signo linguístico em Umberto Eco, com a intenção de utilizar os referidos temas e autores, para subsidiar as metodologias de ensino-aprendizado de língua estrangeira (inglês e espanhol) na rede de ensino público paulista. A abordagem conceitual dos dois autores nos permite inferir que o aprendizado de uma língua estrangeira é efetivado pela apropriação de enunciados e de conhecimento cultural, uma concepção pedagógica que confronta o método tradicional utilizado no ensino paulista, que é baseado, principalmente, no ensino de gramática e de léxicos. O artigo deriva da pesquisa teórica utilizada para subsidiar de uma dissertação de mestrado, que levanta e avalia preliminarmente, a integração das salas tradicionais de língua estrangeira nas escolas de ensino público, com ambientes digitais (em cursos on-line), e também os efeitos didático-pedagógicos da utilização de material audiovisual presencial e online.
