La piel del recién nacido tiene unas peculiaridades anatómicas y fisiológicas cuyo conocimiento es imprescindible para establecer unos cuidados apropiados. Además, la piel tiene un papel importante en la regulación del equilibrio hídrico y la temperatura, y proporciona una barrera contra los gérmenes que pueden invadir el organismo y frente a la absorción sistémica de las sustancias que se aplican de forma tópica. La metodología utilizada para el presente trabajo de investigación, se enmarca dentro de una revisión bibliográfica de tipo documental, ya que nos vamos a ocupar de temas planteados a nivel teórico como es Lesiones cutáneas en el neonato y lactante. La técnica para la recolección de datos está constituida por materiales electrónicos, estos últimos como Google Académico, PubMed, entre otros, apoyándose para ello en el uso de descriptores en ciencias de la salud o terminología MESH. La información aquí obtenida será revisada para su posterior análisis. Existen múltiples lesiones que se presentan en las edades pediátricas, algunas se presentan como consecuencia de infecciones bacterianas, el entorno donde vive y se cría el niño, el género, entre otros, las más frecuentes son dermatitis atópica, dermatomicosis, y candidiasis, que afectan las partes íntimas, el rostro, alrededor de la boca, y finalmente en las zonas de los pies y manos. Hay otras que se generan como consecuencia de canceres de piel o congénitas, las más comunes desaparecen a los pocos días, con los cuidados respectivos como hidratar la piel, utilizar jabón neutro, proteger la zona de la lesión, tener las uñas cortas para evitar el rascado, mantener la piel del niño limpia y seca la cual son muy importantes para así prevenir afecciones en la piel.
