Zusammenfassung. Es werden 2 Experimente vorgestellt, die den kausalen Zusammenhang zwischen dem Unterhaltungspotenzial von Hörspielen, der Aufmerksamkeit und dem Sprachlernen von drei- bis vierjährigen Kindern untersuchen. In Experiment 1 wurde 20 Kindern ein eigens produziertes Hörspiel zweimal präsentiert, anschließend wurden hörspielbezogene Sprachlerneffekte durch einen Satzergänzungstest erfasst. Im Vergleich dazu erhielt eine zweite Gruppe von 20 hinsichtlich Alter, Geschlecht und Sprachkompetenz parallelisierten Kindern dasselbe Hörspiel unter aufmerksamkeitsbeeinträchtigten Bedingungen. Ein Vergleich der Sprachleistungen bestätigt die Bedeutsamkeit der Aufmerksamkeit für den Sprachlernerfolg. Experiment 2 vergleicht langfristige Sprachlerneffekte bei 20 Kindern, die im Verlauf von 14 Tagen ein unterhaltsames Hörspiel hörten, mit 20 Kindern, die ein weniger unterhaltsames Hörspiel erhielten, und einer Kontrollgruppe (n = 10). Zur Messung der abhängigen Variablen wurde ein hörspielproximaler Satzergänzungstest eingesetzt sowie die Spontansprache der Kinder analysiert. Die deutlich höheren Leistungen der beiden Experimentalgruppen im Vergleich zur Kontrollgruppe weisen die Sprachförderlichkeit des Hörspiels nach, wobei die Effekte mit der Zeit zunehmen und stabil bleiben. Der Einfluss der Unterhaltsamkeit wird insofern deutlich, als in dieser Bedingung das Lernmaximum schneller erreicht wird.
