Resumen: El presente estudio trata de arrojar luz sobre la construcción y perpetuación del estereotipo sexual de género ligado a la educación física y el deporte en Mozambique. El diseño de estudio obedece a una metodología de investigación fenomenológica. Las participantes fueron mujeres relacionadas con diferentes ámbitos educativos así como mujeres vinculadas con medios de comunicación deportivos y que pudieran aportar información sobre la problemática social del estereotipo de género en Mozambique. Los resultados resaltan que los estereotipos de género se manifiestan en la educación física y en el deporte, desde la prohibición del uso de pantalones cortos en las clases, las desigualdades de sueldos en los equipos deportivos, la no visibilización del deporte femenino en los medios de comunicación social. El estudio indica que se sigue la tendencia a perpetuar estereotipos patriarcales en la educación física y el deporte. Los cambios propuestos por tanto, deben ser más profundos que acciones aisladas, y que atañen a estructuras sociales que intervengan en la ideología preconcebida sobre la mujer.
