Regioselective Control by Solvent Effects.-Oxidative cyclization of silyl enol ethers (I), (V), and (VII) is achieved in the presence of the electron-transfer sensitizer 9,10-dicyanoanthracene. In the absence of alcohols the reaction of (I) predominantly occurs via silyloxy radical cations as reactive intermediates leading to (II). Non-destructive geophysical methods were applied to detect moisture at the St. Petri Cathedral in Schleswig. One of them is thermography, which allows to distinguish between intact and defective medieval plaster. Additionally, thesuccess of a restoration can be determined by ultrasonic surface measurements.
