La participación es un derecho y, también, un proceso educativo, además, es uno de los aspectos más importantes a considerar para la democratización de la vida escolar, sin embargo, la revisión de la literatura indica que las experiencias de participación en el contexto escolar son limitadas. A partir de lo anterior, se realizó un estudio cualitativo con el fin de analizar la percepción que tienen estudiantes de Educación Media Superior sobre su participación en el contexto escolar. Se aplicó un instrumento escrito a 166 estudiantes de dos planteles de la Ciudad de México. Los resultados muestran que sus ideas se relacionan con opinar y aportar ideas y, de esta misma forma es que dicen participar. Al igual que en estudios realizados en niveles previos, en el bachillerato también se reconoce a la escuela como el principal ámbito de participación, lo cual es un hallazgo relevante debido a que la escuela es un espacio privilegiado para el ejercicio de la ciudadanía.
