Com base na teoria da metáfora conceptual (LAKOFF (2002[1980], KÖVECSES, 2010b), são analisadas expressões metafóricas ou potencialmente metafóricas encontradas no Banco de Dados Interacionais (RONCARATI, 1996), volume que reúne transcrições de conversas gravadas entre novembro de 1989 e janeiro de 1991, totalizando cerca de 270 horas. Com duração entre 5 e 30 minutos, as 13 conversas que compõem volume foram segmentadas em 9927 unidades entonacionais (CHAFE, 1988; Du Bois et alii, 1992). Entre essas unidades, foram encontradas 82 expressões metafóricas que revelam a subjacência de domínios fonte e alvo amplamente apontados na literatura: PESSOA, EMOÇÃO, OBJETO, CORPO HUMANO, ECONOMIA e ANIMAL. Este estudo corrobora assunções acerca da teoria da metáfora conceptual, em suas manifestações linguísticas originais (ou não), no que tange às especificidades dos seus contextos de conceptualização em discursos reais.
Analisa-se um meme sobre consumo de vinho, à luz das teorias da integração conceptual (FAUCONNIER; TURNER, 2002) e da metáfora conceptual estendida (KÖVECSES, 2020), com objetivo de evidenciar a adequação dessas ferramentas teóricas ao estudo de produções multimodais. Além desse arcabouço, outros conceitos da Semântica Cognitiva serão tomados: esquemas imagéticos, domínios, frames e espaços mentais, entre outras noções ligadas à construção de sentido. O meme selecionado para análise foi postado em um grupo de conversa do WhatsApp e em uma página de academia de ginástica do Facebook. Assim, no que tange ao seu objetivo geral, este trabalho pode ser considerado descritivo-exploratório, porque envolve a busca de relações entre os conceitos em que a análise do meme foi baseada, de modo a evidenciar como a relação entre integração conceptual e metáforas em níveis podem descrever as inferências recrutadas na conceptualização proposta.
Análise do processo de conceptualização de sinais da Libras para passado, presente, futuro, antes, hoje, agora com base em instrumentos linguísticos que datam do período entre 1875 e 2011, à luz da teoria da metáfora conceptual (LAKOFF; JOHNSON, 2002[1980]) e outros conceitos da Linguística Cognitiva. A análise revelou a subjacência das metáforas primárias passado é para trás, futuro é para frente, presente é locus (do ego/objeto) e vida é jornada na conceptualização dos sinais selecionados para este estudo. Também foi possível evidenciar a relação entre pressupostos da Linguística Cognitiva e da História das Ideias Linguísticas.
Análise da construção resultativa testar positivo/negativo para coronavírus/COVID-19 (TXPY) nas formas finita e infinitiva, com vistas a postular uma descrição para essa construção que tem sido amplamente usada nas modalidades falada e escrita da imprensa e nas interações entre usuários de português. Como arcabouço teórico foram recrutados os modelos de Gramática Cognitiva de Goldberg (1995) e de Goldberg e Jackendoff (2004), bem como o trabalho de Leite (2006) sobre construções resultativas do português. A conceptualização proposta para TXPY também se baseou em processos metafóricos, metonímicos e estruturas conceptuais, como esquema imagético, domínio-matriz, frame e espaço mental. Trata-se de uma análise qualitativa de dados selecionados da Internet. A partir da fundamentação teórica, aliada aos mecanismos de coerção e de subdeterminação da gramática (LANGACKER, 2009), essas ocorrências revelaram a noção basilar de que conceptualizadores valem-se da semântica da construção.
Análise indutiva, com abordagem qualitativa, de dois posts multimodais da página virtual Uerj da depressão (UDD) à luz das teorias da Metáfora Conceptual (LAKOFF; JOHNSON, 2002[1980]; FORCEVILLE, 2006) e da Integração Conceptual (FAUCONNIER; TURNER, 2002), a fim de verificar como essas teorias podem descrever, conjuntamente, a significação do gênero post e identificar estruturas e processos cognitivos subjacentes à construção de sentidos acerca da pandemia da COVID-19 nos objetos analisados. Os posts foram selecionados de um corpus constituído por textos multimodais publicados na UDD em março, junho e julho de 2020, segundo dois critérios: semelhança temática e composição textual distinta. Os resultados da análise (i) reforçam a ideia de complementaridade entre as teorias adotadas; (ii) corroboram postulados de Forceville (2006) quanto à classificação de metáforas monomodais e multimodais; e (iii) evidenciam, na conceptualização de ambas as postagens, a ativação dos mesmos frames estruturantes dos inputs e conhecimentos básicos nos espaços genéricos (PESSOA, PAPEL, OBJETO e PARTE DO CORPO), além de processos cognitivos comuns, projeções PAPEL-VALOR e ANALOGIA, comprimidas em UNICIDADE na mescla.
