This paper presents a methodology for incorporating the wind hourly behavior into operation simulation and transmission planning within a hydrothermal system framework. A wind power model to obtain wind speed timeseries for the whole planning horizon is applied based on historical data. A simulation program based on SDDP (Stochastic Dual Dynamic Programming) for the optimum operation of a generation-transmission system is used for incorporating the wind energy features and it allowed to carry out the simulations. This research was applied to an existing hydrothermal system; chiefly for evaluating the dispatch of a large wind farm and its impact on both system operation and transmission planning.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
