O artigo trata do processo de imigração e retorno de membros da comunidade líbano-brasileira (re)estabelecida no Líbano, nos diferentes grupos pesquisados, utilizando-se da metodologia de História Oral de Vida de imigrantes libaneses de primeira geração; mulheres descendentes de segunda geração, casadas com libaneses, na faixa etária entre os trinta e os cinqüenta anos de idade; jovens descendentes de segunda e terceira gerações, filhos de pais libaneses e mães filhas de libaneses ou brasileiras, na faixa etária variando entre os sete e os vinte anos de idade na ida ao Líbano; e ainda brasileiras não-descendentes, casadas com imigrantes libaneses. A proposta é analisar a problemática do retorno a partir de duas dimensões: o retorno como expiação da culpa pela ausência e, conseqüentemente, o retorno como dever moral imposto ao imigrante
Cet article aborde l’islam d’immigration (islam arabe) en présentant dans un premier temps des données chiffrées sur les musulmans et leurs institutions religieuses au Brésil, pour ensuite traiter des pratiques et des manières d’être musulman d’un groupe d’immigrés venus de la vallée de la Bekaa, au Liban, dans les années 1950 et 1960 et installés dans la ville de São Paulo, ainsi que d’une partie de ce groupe ayant concrétisé le projet de retour au pays d’origine. Du point de vue méthodologique, on présente des données statistiques officielles et une cartographie des principales institutions religieuses du pays réalisée à partir de la consultation de sites Internet, de la presse et d’autres supports de diffusion. On analyse ensuite les pratiques religieuses du groupe étudié sur la base d’entretiens d’histoire orale.
