Background:The hands of surgeons and scrub nurses carry microorganisms identified as sources of microbial contamination. Surgical hand antisepsis is a cornerstone of the overall aseptic technique in surgery to eliminate transient microorganisms and reduce resident skin flora, preoperative hand disinfection is an important part of the strategy for surgical team to prevent surgical site infection. Aim: Compare the antiseptic effects of Betadine and Sterillium on microbial load of surgical hands. Method: One group, two periods, posttest experimental study designed was carried on a convenient sample of 54 surgeons and 44 scrub nurses. Results: The mean of microbial load were. 76.46 (178.97), and 31.58 (74.57) after hands washing with soap and water before hands scrubbing or rubbing by using Betadine, and Sterillium respectively, with statistically significant differences, P=.024. The mean of microbial load were. 4.06 (13.57), and 0.15 (1.08) after hands scrubbing or rubbing by using Betadine, and Sterillium respectively, with statistically significant differences, P=.005. Finally, the mean of microbial load were. 21.75 (104.65), and zero after doffing gloves by scrubbing with Betadine, and rubbing with Sterillium respectively, with statistically significant differences, P=.042. Conclusion: superiority of hands rubbing with Sterilium over hands scrubbing with Betadine in the terms of; total positive growth, or no growth of isolated bacteria. Recommendation: Assure continuous supply operating theater with Sterillium.
Tuberculosis (TB) is second leading cause of death from an infectious disease worldwide, as well cause disease among millions of people each year. Screening can lead to early diagnosis and treatment thereby reducing TB related morbidity and mortality, Mantoux tuberculin skin test (MTST) was the standard method for detecting latent TB infection, Therefore, the current study aimed to assess students` knowledge and practice regarding Mantoux skin test procedure, through a cross sectional study on a convenient sample composed of 200 undergraduate nursing students enrolled in the course of community health nursing 2nd semester, academic year 2021-2022, by three two structured self-administrated questionnaires and an observation checklist. Results of the present study revealed that 93% of nursing students had poor total level of knowledge with a mean 10.0500 (3.45357) and 71.5% had proficient total level of practice with a mean 43.5650(3.54522); concluding that most of nursing students had poor total level of knowledge and less than three quarters had proficient total level of practice regarding Mantoux skin test procedure, so it is recommended to design educational session to raise nursing students' knowledge regarding Mantoux skin test procedure.
Background: Human reproduction involves a man and a woman. Since men participate in sexual decisions and behavior associated with reproduction then reproductive health is a concern for all men of all ages. Therefore the earliest part of the life course adolescence and early adulthood is important because it is the most fascinating and complex transitions (physical, psychological and behavioral) in the life span. Promoting the sexual and reproductive health of young men is a keystone to enhance their health overall, to reduce some of the major health risks they face, and to establish habits that will protect them throughout their lives. Proper information about this subject can help them to handle these changes without any stress. For that the aim of this paper is to assess the application of health education package about sexual and reproductive health for University male students'. Method: A quasi-experimental (one group, pre post-test) research was used. The minimum sample size comprised 381 students. Proportion allocation technique was used to select the required students' number of first, second and third year at studied faculties. A total number of students sample was 386 students. Three tools were used for data collection: Structured self-administered questionnaire to assess male students' sociodemographic and economic characteristics, structured self-administered questionnaire to assess male students' knowledge and self-administered scale to assess male students' attitude. Results: There was highly statistical significant difference in knowledge level before and after application of educational package about sexual and reproductive health (t=151.995, P≤ 0.01). Concerning attitude of students toward sexual and reproductive health, there was significant differences before and after application of educational package (p< 0.001). Conclusion: The study concluded that almost all university male students had poor knowledge score level about sexual and reproductive health before application of education package and all of them had good knowledge score level after application Recommendations: Academic learning should be occupied with sexual and reproductive health. Provide proper information for adolescent boys about sexual and reproductive health and guidance about their sexual responsibilities and relationships. Develop global service education package about sexual and reproductive health for adolescent boys and men to support providers of this subject meet the specific and diverse needs of them. Conducting Public health campaigns about the impact of denial sexual and reproductive health on adolescents.
