INTRODUCTION: An implementation, nonrandomized mobile health program was created in Uganda to address financial consequences of pediatric colorectal conditions. Baseline characteristics of the pre-intervention group are described.
METHODS:Children undergoing elective colorectal surgery at Mbarara Hospital were enrolled prospectively from July 2019 to January 2021. Clinical data and interviews were recorded preoperatively, day of surgery, and postoperatively.
INTRODUCTION: Estimates of emergency department (ED) visits and readmissions after pediatric surgery vary widely as they are often based on single institution data and limited to specific subspecialties. Therefore, we aimed to determine rates of ED visits and readmissions across surgical subspecialties at children's hospitals in the US and identify patients and surgical procedures at high risk for revisits to guide future interventions.
