<p>El título de este artículo hace referencia a un objeto de estudio peculiar: el sistema de medios de comunicación de la Cuba actual, es decir, la organización encargada de producir y distribuir relatos tendientes a la reproducción simbólica de una determinada y muy específica colectividad humana como es la cubana, una nación-isla/archipiélago-diáspora sui generis en más de un sentido. ¿Qué entender por sistema de medios de comunicación en Cuba? ¿Qué ocurre y, sobre todo, qué ocurrirá con ese sistema de comunicación en un país en franco proceso de transformación?</p>
The article analyzes the historiographical production about the Cuban printed press of the 20th century. The documentary review confirmed a diversity of theoretical-methodological approaches. From volumes attached to anecdotes, one goes on to texts that try to explain the interdependencies between journalistic production and the context of the complex Cuban 20th century. The still incipient state of studies on the history of the press on the island is confirmed. This review makes it possible to publicize the most important works carried out in recent years and suggest topics that urgently need to be investigated.

Esta rebelión, respuesta a las profundas desigualdades sociales existentes en el continente, se apropia de una retórica antiburguesa y antiimperialista, que por primera vez es común a todas las naciones del llamado “mundo en desarrollo”. La investigación intenta ofrecer una visión original acerca del papel de la cultura en nuestro continente, contribuyendo así a enriquecer el acervo de explicaciones disponibles sobre el fenómeno de una producción simbólica pensada a contracorriente.</p>
