Guava leaves (Psidium guajava L.) is one of the efficacious plants, because it contains secondary metabolites of saponins, tannins, flavonoids, and alkaloids; where these compounds have antibacterial properties. With the presence of antibacterial content in guava leaves, a preparation was made in the form of an antibacterial ointment by varying one of the ingredients as a stabilizer, namely disodium EDTA. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of disodium EDTA concentration on the physical stability of the ethanol extract ointment of guava leaves (Psidium guajva L.). In this study, 3 formulas were prepared with variations in the concentration of disodium EDTA, namely F1 (0.05%); F2 (0.08%) and F3 (0.10%), respectively. Evaluation of the physical stability of the ointment was carried out for 12 days (6 cycles), including organoleptic tests, homogeneity tests, pH tests, adhesion tests, spreadability tests and stability tests. The results of organoleptic observations during the cycling test showed that there was a change in the color of the preparation in the 5th and 6th cycles. In addition, increasing the disodium EDTA concentration affected the pH, where the higher the disodium EDTA concentration, the lower the pH and affected the physical stability of the preparation. The results showed that the preparation that met the requirements for ointment stability was formula 3 with a concentration of 0.10% disodium EDTA.
One of them is Pagersari Village which is one of the villages in Pagerageung District, Tasikmalaya Regency. This village is located in the northern part of Tasikmalaya. Most of the livelihoods of the people there are farmers, so the environment is still relatively surrounded by rice fields, most of which is used for rice, secondary crops, vegetables and other crops. In addition, people among housewives also often plant medicinal plants in their yards. One of the plants that has not been used optimally is pegagan which grows a lot in Pagersari Village. Pegagan can be used as a tea that can be brewed at any time as a support for health or when exposed to disease. The purpose of this community service is to introduce the marketing of pegagan tea to the people of Pagersari Village. The method of this community service program is the development of the Pagersari Village Community through counseling and the practice of making pegagan tea from processing medicinal plants to packaging so that it can be used as a Home Industry Product (P-IRT) as proof that the product is guaranteed and safe. In addition, this group of housewives will be provided with how to commercialize products through social media, product marketing management, and assistance in submitting halal products. The results of this service program were carried out on August 13, 2022 at Madrasah Al-Khoeriyyah Pamipiran Village, Pagersari Village, Tasikmalaya Regency at 13.00-15.30 WIB which was attended by 20 participants who were housewives and farmers in Pagersari Village. This community service activity was attended by lecturers, members of community service activities, students, and the head of Pagersari Village. This research was aimed to isolate and identify the new pigment from the main pigments of Monascus purpureus, which derive from five different isolates and through with solid fermentation used IR-64 rice as substrate. The measurement of pigment was done by extracting t samples using methanol in the 14th day of fermentation process. The absorbance of main pigment was measured by a UV-Visible spectrophotometer at the wavelengths of 364, 365, 375, 400, 480 and 500 nm. The results showed that the absorbance of each pigments isolate varied within ranges from 0.219 to 0.559. Result followed of Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC) method with chloroform: acetone (9: 1). TLC results were followed by isolating IPB-B samples using Thin Layer Chromatography- Preparative (TLC-P), whereas the band obtained was identified by using Liquid Chromatography-Mass Spectrum (LC-MS) instrument. The isolated and identified IPB-B samples showed that there was found a new compound of Molecular Weight (MW), which was Monaphilol A with Molecular Weight (MW) of 384.47.
Tofu's waste is known still contain nutrients that can be utilized, one of which is as a source of microbial growth. Has done research on the use of tofu's waste as a substituent nutrient at the Staphylococcus aureus growth media. The method used is the plate count method with some tests, that is test protein qualitative and quantitative, qualitative and quantitative carbohydrate test and test determination of bacterial growth. Determination of protein and carbohydrate levels were calculated using UV-Vis spectrophotometry. The result showed that the tofu's waste (solid and liquid) contains a protein with levels of 278 ppm in the solid waste and liquid waste is 250 ppm, besides the waste out also contain carbohydrates that at 3861 ppm of solid waste and the liquid waste by 2761 ppm. To test for the determination of bacterial growth, the use of waste created in a concentration that is 20,50, and 80%. From the research and processing of data obtained that 50% of solid waste has the potential to be better nutrients on the growth of Staphylococcus aureus.
