A total of forty two clinically diagnosed pediatric brain tumors were studied over a period of two years. The study was aimed to evaluate the efficacy of computed tomography (CT) in pre-operative diagnosis of pediatric brain tumors by correlating the imaging findings with postoperative histopathological findings. Site, density, mass effect and contrast enhancement of the lesion were studied as primary efficacy variables of CT scan. In the present study, the common pediatric brain tumors were astrocytoma, medulloblastoma, craniopharyngioma and ependymoma. In 18(42.9%) cases the tumors were supratentorial and in 24 (57.1%), they were infratentorial in location. The findings of CT scan in different intracranial neoplasm strongly correlated with those of histopathology. The validity tests for CT scan were found to be 88.9% sensitive, 100% specific and about 95% accurate in diagnosing astrocytoma. Similarly the sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy for medulloblastoma were 100%, 96.9% and 97.7% respectively. For craniopharyngioma the values were 85.7%, 100% and 97.7% respectively. The study concludes that CT is an invaluable imaging modality in preoperative diagnosis of pediatric brain tumor due to its excellent characterization of tumors.
<p><strong>Background:</strong> Computed tomography (CT) is the gold standard for exact delineation of paranasal sinus(PNS) disease. There are many radiologically important diseases of paranasal sinuses.<strong> </strong></p><p><strong>Objective:</strong> to evaluate the malignant PNS mass by computed tomographic image and the findings of this modality were compared with histopathological result.</p><p><strong>Methods:</strong> It was a cross sectional type of study and carried out with suspected PNS mass having patients during January 2009 to October 2010.</p><p><strong>Results:</strong> The mean age of the patients was 35.95 ± 18.24 and common complaints of the patients were nasal obstruction (73.7%) and maximum 53.9% patients had PNS mass in maxillary sinuses. Out of 76 cases 21.1 % found malignant mass on CT and after histopathology 19. 7% had malignant mass. Out of all cases 14 were diagnosed as malignant PNS mass by CT scan and confirmed by histopathological evaluation and they were true positive. Two cases were diagnosed as malignant PNS mass by CT scan but not confirmed by histopathological findings and they were false positive. Of 60 cases, which were diagnosed by CT scan, one was confirmed as malignant and 59 were benign by histopathology. They were false negative and true negative respectively. Sensitivity of CT scan to diagnose malignant PNS mass was 93.3%, specificity 96.7%, positive predictive value 87.5%, negative predictive value 98.3% and accuracy 96.1 %.<strong> </strong></p><p><strong>Conclusion:</strong> CT scan of the malignant para nasal sinus mass provides more information and better image quality and CT diagnosis correlate well with the findings of histopathology.</p>

The pain was associated with several episodes of vomiting. She had a history of similar types of 3 attacks within the last 1 year and in between attacks, she was comparatively well. On query, the mother gave a history of gradual weight loss.
Background: Foetal Binocular Distance in Second & Third Trimester of Pregnancy and correlation with Gestation Age is important. Objective: The purpose of the study was to sonographically measure the foetal binocular distance, determine the foetal gestational age & to find out relationship between them in 2nd & 3rd trimester of gestation. Methodology: This cross sectional study was carried out in the department of radiology and imaging Mymensingh Medical College Hospital, Mymensingh and Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University, Dhaka, Bangladesh during the period of July 2012 to June 2013. In all the cases BPD, FL, AC, Binocular distance (BD) in cm and gestational age in weeks were measured by USG. Each patient was voluntary enrolled into the study without any specific indication. The measurement was performed only once for each patient. The foetal outer binocular distance was identified in the occipitotransverse or occipito-posterior-foetal positions. With the head in the occipito-posterior position, the transducer was placed in a plane that transected the occiput, orbits, and nasal processes. Measurements were obtained only when the fetal face was directly perpendicular to the uterine wall, since measurements in an oblique plane were considered to be unreliable. Result: The correlation between binocular distance (BD) in cm and gestational age (GA) in wks was calculated. This correlation was highly significant (r = 0. 973; p<0.001).Conclusion:Excellent correlation was found to exist between binocular diameter and gestational age. In the absence of known date of last menstrual period or where fundal height does not agree with dates, these parameters are valuable in estimating the gestational age of the foetus
Fungal ball or fungal bezoar is the saprophytic colonization of a preformed cavity by a conglomerate of fungal mycelia without invasion of the adjacent tissue. Fungal bezoar is seen commonly in immunocompromised individuals. We present a case of urinary tract infection, complicated by unliateral fungus balls in a 25-year old female whose imaging findings (USG and CT scan), laboratory investigation and histopathological findings are consistent with renal fungal ball.
