Background: The present study was a descriptive study that aimed to assess of post abortion woman lifestyle. A Qausi-expermental sample that consisted of 116 post aborted women, the study was conducted at post natal room in AIN Shams University, maternity hospital. Data were collected using Arabic structured interviewing questionnaire sheet includes characteristics of the studied women; women knowledge regards abortion and management, lifestyle assessment tool. The results of this study revealed that more than half of women don't have knowledge regards abortion and its management, more over there was more than half of women had unhealthy lifestyle during pregnancy. It was concluded that the majority of the studied women had negative attitude toward the lifestyle meanwhile, there were many factors as age, work, family history, no. of abortion, unhealthy lifestyle behavior that effect on post aborted woman. It was recommended that providing further session, brochures, to increase women knowledge and awareness about effect of unhealthy lifestyle.
Background: Kangaroo mother care (KMC) is the concept of skin-to-skin contact (SSC) between a parent or surrogate and a newborn or infant child. Kangaroo care has been found to reduce mortality and morbidity in preterm infants, increase weight gain in premature babies and improve emotional attachment in mothers.The aim of the study was to assess pregnant women's knowledge regarding kangaroo care through assessment of the pregnant women's knowledge. Research design: a descriptive design was utilized to achieve the aim of this study. Settings: The study was carried out at the antenatal clinic and department affiliated to Maternity Hospital Ain Shams University. Subjects: A simple random sample technique was used to recruit 240 pregnant women. All pregnant women in third trimester were included in the study.Tools: First tool was a structured interview questionnaire, It was composed of 3 parts, demographic characteristics of the pregnant women, Obstetrical history and Pregnant Women's' Knowledge regarding Kangaroo Care. Results: sixty seven point five percent of the studied women had incorrect knowledge regarding the premature baby and kangaroo care. Conclusion: more than two thirds of the studied women have unsatisfactory level of knowledge regarding kangaroo care. Recommendation: Neonatal intensive care units should include updated policies related to developmental supportive care for neonates.
Exclusive breastfeeding (EBF) is defined as the practice of providing only breast-milk for an infant for the first 6 months of life without the addition of any other food or water, which recommends initiation of breastfeeding within one hour of life and continued breastfeeding for up to 2 years of age or more accordingly and it is the foundation of child survival and health, The aim of the Study: The present study aims to assess culture and physical factors affecting discontinuation of exclusive breastfeeding among primipara women. Design: A descriptive study was used. Setting: The current study was conducted at the breastfeeding clinic at Maternity Hospital Ain Shams University, because it had increased the flow rate and availability of the sample needed to fulfill the registration in the study. Sample: A Convenient sample of 250 Primipara women was recruited on the study. Data collection tools: A Structured Interviewing questionnaire schedule. Results: The result of the present study reveals that the physical factors, 66.0% and 55.2% of the studied sample reported that Breast problems and complications during and after childbirth respectively .cultural factors 83.2%, 64.8% and 54.8% of the studied sample mentioned that advice from family members or friends, inadequate milk supply and mentioned Modern formulas as nearly the same as breast milk respectively and 65.6% of the studied women had incorrect knowledge .Conclusion: Factors affecting discontinuation of exclusive breastfeeding among primipara women are about two fifths of studied women reported that the physical factors and more than one third of studied women had culture factors and less than two thirds of the studied women had incorrect knowledge about exclusive breastfeeding . Recommendations: Raise awareness about the knowledge of exclusive breastfeeding using mass media. Breastfeeding promotion programs should work hard to raise maternal awareness about the importance of exclusive breastfeeding.
