Background: Lymph nodes cancer is one of chronic diseases that require long-term care. Family caregivers as the closest one who lives with the cancer patient takes a significant role in providing care. This causes an important burden on caregivers and decreases their quality of life. Objective: The aim of the current study is to assess the quality of life for family caregivers of patients with lymph nodes cancer. Subjects and methods: A descriptive study was conducted in outpatient Cancer Clinic of General Fayoum Hospitals. Purposive sample was used and included 240 family caregivers. Tools of the study included: (1): Interviewing Questionnaire sheet that included two parts, Part I: Demographic characteristics, Part II: Knowledge Assessment Sheet, (2): Caregiver Quality of Life Index. Result: Up to 80% of the sample under investigation knew too little overall about lymph node cancer. There were statistically significant associations between the total knowledge scores of family caregiver of lymph node cancer patients and their age, educational attainment, and monthly income, as well as statistically significant associations between some socio-demographic data and their quality of life. Additionally, there was a highly statistically significant positive correlation between the total knowledge scores and the total quality of life. Conclusion: Majority of family caregivers with cancer patients had poor quality of life and unsatisfactory knowledge. Implementation of educational programe for family caregivers with cancer patients to enhance their quality of life is needed.
Abstract:Background: Sexuality is an important part of normal human functioning. Gynecological cancer diagnosis and treatment has a devastating effect on Sexual issues. The study was conducted at Outpatient oncology, Helwan General hospital, Egypt. The study aim to evaluate the effect of application of PLISSIT Counseling Model for women with cervical cancer undergoing treatment on enhancing sexuality. A quasi -experimental design was used. A purposive sample of 80 women with cervical cancer was included. Four tools, a structured interview questionnaire, body image scale, female sexual function index (FSDI), and the revised dyadic adjustment scale. The study findings indicated that a significant relationship was found between treatment, side effect pre and post application regarding nausea & vomiting, diarrhea, and pain. The study and research hypothesis concluded that applying of PLISSIT counseling model for sexuality was effective in enhancing sexual functioning except in the area of sexual desire or libido, improvement in couple satisfaction and body image after application of PLISSIT counseling model post application compared to pre-application. The study recommended that dissemination of PLISSIT Counseling Model For Women with cervical cancer in addressing sexual dysfunction in a cancer treatment, Applying the evidence-based nursing intervention to address and manage the effects of cervical cancer on sexuality.
Abstract:Background: Chronic respiratory impairment among older adults is associated with substation mortality, morbidity and was the third leading cause of death. Aim: Evaluate the effect of nursing intervention on ADL of older adults with chronic respiratory impairment. Design: A quasi-experimental design was used in this study. Sample: A purposive sample of 100 older adults patients with chronic respiratory impairment chosen from Government Hospital, half of them were study group and the other half was a control group. Tools: First: An interviewing questionnaire to assess demographic data, medical history and their knowledge. Second: An observational check list to assess their independency for activity of daily living. Third: A structured questionnaire to assess home environment. Results: Showed that there were highly statistical significant differences throughout intervention program phases (pre, post, and follow up) among the study group regarding their knowledge about chronic respiratory impairment, modify their home environment, and increase their independency level. The intervention had effect on their ADL, physical, psychological, and social conditions. Conclusion: There was a positive improvement compared with control group, and increasing the total satisfactory knowledge about chronic illness. Also increase the independency on practicing with ADL and enhancing psychological well-being among study group. The study recommended that: There is a need to increase of knowledge about; examination, checkup and follow up, simple modification of home environment to improve ventilation and degree of independence of daily activities such as bathing, grooming, dressing, precautions to infection prevention and social activities to improve the psychological status.
Elderly in the world is expected that are double by 2050 and triple by 2100, Elderly who suffer from hip fractures must have tasks and routines that are performed on a daily basis in order to live independently, being able to successfully manage routine tasks. Assess daily living activities of the elderly suffering from hip fractures. Descriptive research design was used. Purposive sample include 200 elderly. The study results revealed that more than two thirds of elderly have unsatisfactory knowledge; nearly two fifths of elderly were partially dependent in doing daily living activities. There was highly statistically significant correlation between elderly total knowledge and total daily living activities. Less than two fifths of elderly were partially dependent in doing their activities and more than three fifths of elderly have unsatisfactory knowledge about hip fractures. Also, there was a positive relation between elderly total knowledge about hip fractures and total daily living activities with highly statisticallysignificantcorrelation.
