In this paper, a stiffness-based model is initially assessed for fatigue damage analysis of composite structures. The model is evaluated with three sets of experimental data. A residual strength model is coupled to the choice model and a modified model is developed. Numerical results show that the modified model leads to improvement of predicted fatigue lives for two-stage loadings. To determine the variations of the predicted fatigue lives, probabilistic assessment is done by Monte-Carlo simulation. Normal distribution is fitted with good agreement to the histogram and empirical CDF of the numerical life predictions.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
