Six novel aromatic azo dyes were synthesized from 4-amino-2-nitrobenzoic acid with phenol, catechol, resorcinol, hydroquinone, salicylic acid and acetylsalicylic acid with very good yield. These azo dyes confirm by FTIR, CHNS and study the photo stability used TiO2 and ZnO. The photocatalytic degradation of novel aromatic azo dyes was investigated using TiO2 and ZnO as a catalyst under 125 watts UV lamp. A series of experiments was performed to reaching to the optimum condition of degradation. The photocatalytic degradation of azo dye follows the first order reaction. In all experiments photocatalytic degradation of the azo dye has been studied using different weight of TiO2 and ZnO suspended in an aqueous solution of azo dye irradiated by irradiated by 125–UV lamp in 100 cm3 a vessel reactor at room temperature with 10 cm3/min air bubble has been passed through the solution. In addition, all result was measured using UV-Visible spectrophotometer.
Condensation polymerisation technique has been employed to synthesise a Novel Tröger base polymer with thermal stability and microporosity. The synthesis process starts with alkylating anthracene, then nitrating and reducing this to produce the monomer. A Tröger base polymer is obtained by polymerising the monomer to afford a white polymer with good solubility into dichloromethane and chloroform, good thermal stability to ~377oC and a good BET surface area of 368.6 m2/g with a total pore volume of 0.4166 ml/g.
Urea formaldehyde resin was prepared by using basic media by yield 95%. The Remaining of ureaplasts resin were prepared in acetic acid media by high yield. Alkyde resins were prepared by condensation polymerization by react Succinic, Maleic, Phthalic anhydrides with Ethylene glycol or Glycerol. Select samples of the prepared alkyde resins were mixed with Azo dyes in special ratio. The mixtures were used as coatings for wood, and compaised with pure dyes. The Coating that some alkyde resins showed better adhesion from using dyes alone. Preparation of wood coating by mixing ureaplast resins and alkyde resins with Azo dyes in special ratios.
