Ön dişlerde travmaya bağlı olarak meydana gelen diş kırıkları hem ağız fonksiyonlarını bozabilmekte hem de çoc uğun psikososyal gelişimi üzerinde olumsuz etkiler yapabilmektedir. Bu çalışmanın amacı ; ön diş kırıklarının , çocukların sosyal yargılamalarını nasıl etkilediğini saptamaktır. Gereç ve yöntem: Bu çalışmada , yaşları 11 ile 15 arasında değişen birer kız ve erkek çocuk seçilmiştir. Seçilen çocukların ailelerinden izin alınarak fotoğrafları çekilmiş ve dijital ortamda her iki çocuğun fotoğrafı üzerinde düzeltmeler ya pılarak ön dişlerin sağlam olduğu ve ön dişlerin kırık olduğu iki farklı görsel hazırlanmıştır. Çalışma grubu yaşları 7-15 arasında değişen 1258 çocuk sağlam (travma geçirmemiş fotoğrafların gösterildiği), travma geçirmiş ve kombine (hem travma geçirmiş ve hem de travma geçirmemiş fotoğrafların gösterildiği) olarak üç farklı gruba ayrılmıştır. Bu görseller sağlam , travma ve kombine gruptaki çocuklara gösterilmiş ve çocukların likert skalasına uygun olarak hazırlanmış anketleri doldurmaları istenmişt ir. Anket sonuçlarının değerlendirilmesiyle elde edilen sonuçlar tek yönlü varyans analizi (ANOVA), tanımlayıcı istatistikler ve post hoc çoklu karşılaştırmalar analiz yöntemleri kullanılarak incelenmiştir. Bulgular: Yapılan bu çalışmada ; kombine grupta 7-11 yaş ile 12-15 yaş grubunun restore edilmiş dişe ve kırık dişe ait fotoğrafa bakarak verilen yanıtlarının ortalamaları arasında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı fark bulunmuştur (p<0,05). Sağlam dişlere sahip fotoğrafa bakan grupta, 7-11 yaş ile 12-15 yaş gruplarında verilen yanıtların ortalamaları arasında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı fark bulunmuştur. Sonuç: Yapılan bu çalışmada; 7-11 yaş grubu çocukların, 12-15 yaş grubu çocuklara göre daha kesin yargılamalarda bulunduğu görülmüştür. Ayrıca 12-15 yaş erkek çocukları haricinde ki tüm çocuklar , fotoğraflarındaki akranlarının hem kırık hem de sağlam halini gördüğü zaman, kırık halini tek başına görmesine kıyasla daha negatif yargılamalarla nitelendirmişlerdir .
