In this study, four different compounds were produced by adding different proportions of mica powder (0-5-10-20%) to styrene-butadiene rubber. After vulcanization, the crosslink density, hardness, density, tensile strength, elongation percentage, and tearing strength of the compounds were measured. In addition, the effects of crosslink density on mechanical properties were discussed. The physio-mechanical properties of the new compounds produced were compared both among them?selves and with the properties of the rubber being referenced. It was observed that increasing the crosslink density of mica powder provided an advantage in terms of hardness, tensile strength, tearing strength, and percentage elongation properties. To explain the changes in mechanical properties, the tensile fracture surfaces were determined by SEM and energy dispersive spectroscopy. In the light of the obtained results, it was determined that the use of carbon black could be reduced by using mica powder in the rubber industry.

Abstract:The effects of different filling materials and stabilizers in polymer based materials that are used as shoe soles in the shoemaking industry on the mechanical properties (strength, failure, tensile, tearing, bending etc.) of the final products have been examined in this study. Natural rubber (NR RSS3) and styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR 1502) were used as the main matrix material. New compounds were formed by replacing the fillings in the general compound of the existing factory (SiO 2 , CaCO 3 ) with 40% (1200 g) blast furnace flue dust, rice husk, reclaimed rubber (recycled) and wood ash. Comparison of the new compounds with the existing compounds revealed a decrease in hardness, density, dimension stability, bending, tearing, % elongation and failure strength and an increase in wearing.

In this study, the effect of adding wood ash (oak tree) on the mechanical properties (tensile, abrasion, tearing, elongation %, etc.) of NR/SBR-type elastomer materials was investigated. Five different compounds were prepared by adding 16 %, 32 %, 48 % and 64 % wood ash to the filler and additive materials in the general composition (G). The mechanical test results and production costs of the new compounds composed were compared between themselves and with the G compound. The fracture surfaces of the compounds as well as the shape and morphological distribution of the fillers in the rubber matrix were examined using a Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM). As a result of the experimental studies, it was found that the new compounds composed had an increased tensile and tearing strength, abrasion amounts, bending capability, unit elongation amounts and densities in comparison to the G compound. A decrease was observed in the hardness values and material costs (production cost) of the compounds. Pripravili so pet razli~nih vrst zmesi z dodatkom (16, 32, 48 in 64) w/% lesnega pepela, ki so ga uporabili kot polnilni in dodajni material k osnovni sestavi (G; angl.: General). Rezultate mehanskih preizkusov in stro{ke izdelave novih zmesi so primerjali med seboj in z zmesjo osnovne sestave G. Prelomne povr{ine zmesi, kakor tudi morfolo{ko porazdelitev polnila v matrici iz gume so opazovali in analizirali s pomo~jo vrsti~nega elektronskega mikroskopa (SEM). Na osnovi analize eksperimentalnih rezultatov avtorji ugotavljajo, da imajo izdelane nove zmesi povi{ano natezno in stri`no trdnost, ve~jo odpornost proti abraziji in sposobnost upogibanja ter enovit raztezek v primerjavi z gumo osnovne sestave G. In this study, four different pulps were prepared by adding 0%, 5%, 10%, and 15% carburized pine nut cone ash to a reference rubber compound based on styrene butadiene rubber (SBR). After vulcanization, the hardness, density, tensile strength, percentage elongation, tearing strength, and crosslink density of the compound were measured. In addition, the effects of the crosslink density on the mechanical properties were examined. The properties of the carburized pine nut cone ash compounds were evaluated both among themselves and comparatively with the physical and mechanical properties of the reference compound. In addition, it increased the hardness as well as the crosslink density, and it was shown to provide advantages in terms of its density, tensile strength, tearing strength, and percentage elongation properties. Furthermore, the fracture surfaces of the compounds were characterized via scanning electron microscopy and energy dispersion spectroscopy to explain the change in mechanical properties.

In this study iron oxide layers (IOLs) formed on the surfaces of ingots during a rolling process were supplemented into stiren-butadiene rubber (SBR) based on a referenced rubber-back composition of 5-10-15-20 %, and accordingly five different samples were prepared. After vulcanization, the hardness, density, abrasion loss, tensile strength, percentage elongation, tearing strength and crosslink densities were measured. In addition to that, the effects of the crosslink density on the mechanical properties are discussed. The properties of the generated new compounds are comparatively discussed, both with respect to themselves and with those of the referenced rubber. It was observed that the iron oxide layer significantly reduces the cost of compound, and increases the wearing resistance with the increasing of the crosslink density, and provides an advantage for the properties of hardness, tensile strength, tearing strength and percentage elongation. In order to explain the changes in the mechanical properties, the fracture surfaces were characterized by Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and Energy-Dispersive Spectroscopy (EDS). When the SEM images are examined, it is seen that the filler dispersion in the rubber matrix is adversely affected by its increasing amount. The improved materials are discussed in terms of their usability in outsole applications. Keywords: compound, mechanical properties, iron oxide layer, crosslink V prispevku avtor predstavlja {tudijo priprave kompozitov na osnovi stiren-butadienske gume (SBR), kateri je bil kot oja~itvena faza dodan`elezov oksid (IOL), ki nastaja kot {kaja na povr{ini ingotov med postopkom vro~ega valjanja. Pripravili so pet razli~nih me{anic s (5, 10, 15 in 20) %, IOL. Po vulkanizaciji so dolo~ili trdoto, odpornost proti abrazijski obrabi, gostoto, natezno trdnost, raztezek, stri`no trdnost in gostoto pre~nega zamre`enja. Dodatno so analizirali vpliv gostote pre~nega zamre`enja na mehanske lastnosti. Lastnosti novih kompozitov so primerjali med seboj in z referen~no osnovo (~isto SBR, brez dodatka polnila). Ugotovili so, da IOL pomembno zmanj{a ceno kompozita, izbolj{a odpornost proti obrabi s pove~anjem gostote pre~nega zamre`enja, kakor tudi druge lastnosti, kot so: trdota, natezna in stri`na trdnost ter raztezek. Da bi razlo`ili spremembe mehanskih lastnosti izdelanih kompozitov, so okarakterizirali prelomne povr{ine z vrsti~nim elektronskim mikroskopom (SEM) in energijsko disperzijsko spektroskopijo (EDS). Na osnovi SEM posnetkov avtorji ugotavljajo, da porazdelitev polnila oz. njegova disperzija v matrici gume, u~inkuje sorazmerno z nara{~ajo~im dele`em polnila.
