A b s t r a c t :A code has been developed based on the semi-classical theory of giant magnetoresistance of Camley and Barnas [l]. It computes the sheet conductance and magnetoresistance of spin-valve s t r u c t u r e s .T h e i n p u t p a r a m e t e r s a r e phenomenological transport parameters (mean-free paths and reflection/transmission coefficients at interfaces). These parameters are fairly well known i n most c o n v e n t i o n a l materials. Several refinements have been introduced into the initial theory, in particular spin-intermixing due to magnon scattering, anisotropy in mean-free paths, and angular dependence of transmission through the interfaces. A few examples of the use of this code are described in this paper. Such code could be used as a guideline in the optimization of spin-valves.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
