Introduction Airway management for patients who suffered midfacial fractures is complicated. In maxillofacial injuries, a choice has often to be made between different ways of intubation when surgical access to both the nasal and oral cavities is necessary. Submental intubation technique is an alternative to nasoendotracheal intubation and tracheostomy in the management of patients with severe midfacial fractures. In the Indian subcontinent, the incidence of squamous cell carcinoma of the oral cavity has been constantly increasing despite the improvement in the awareness about squamous cell carcinoma. The patients generally report to us in the period in which the tumor would have undergone metastasis. This article highlights about the grading, staging, and decision-making regarding the surgical management of squamous cell carcinoma of the oral cavity. The article also stresses upon the early detection of the lesion by the practitioner for a definitive successful surgical treatment of the patient.
Identication and treatment of vascular malformations is a challenging endeavor for clinician.Hemangiopericytoma is highly malignant over a life time, the recurrence rate varies with the particular organsystem involved. Arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) are high-ow malformation, characterized by direct communication between arteries and veins, lacking normal capillary network. AVMs are usually congenital.Acquired AVMs are reported to occur due to trauma or hormonal changes.The goal of this article is to provide a management of arteriovenous malformations arising from hemangiopericytoma. Only by developing a clear understanding of the clinical aspects, diagnostic tools, imaging modalities, and options for surgical intervention should be taken with appropriate care be provided.
