Objective: To develop and validate reverse phase-high performance liquid chromatographic method for estimation of olanzapine in bulk and tablet dosage form. Methods:Chromatographic analysis was performed on XTerra C18 (150×3.5 mm inner diameter, 5 µm) column using a mobile phase consisting of buffer (potassium dihydrogen phosphate) and methanol (45:55% v/v) with a flow rate of 0.6 ml/minutes. The detection was carried out at 247 nm. Results:The calibration curve of olanzapine was linear in the range of 30-70 µg/ml. The mean % assay of marketed formulation was found to be 100.2%, and % recovery was observed in the range of 98-102%. Relative standard deviation for the precision study was found <2%. Conclusion:The developed method is simple, precise and rapid, making it suitable for estimation of olanzapine in bulk and tablet dosage form.
High Performance Thin layer Chromatography (HPTLC) technique is a sophisticated and automated form of the thin-layer chromatography (TLC) with better and advanced separation efficiency and detection limits, and is often an excellent alternative to GC and HPLC. Applications of HPTLC include phytochemical and biomedical analysis, herbal drug quantification, active ingredient quantification, fingerprinting of formulations, and check for adulterants in the formulations. HPTLC is useful in detecting chemicals of forensic concern. Various advance techniques in reference to HPTLC like hyphenations in HPTLC-MS, HPTLC-FTIR and HPTLC-Scanning Diode Laser have made HPTLC a power analytical tool in the field of analysis. Experts are of the opinion that HPTLC future to combinatorial approach and the utilization of instrumental HPTLC toward the analysis of drug formulations, bulk drugs, and natural products will increase in the future
A b s t r a c tIn the present work, an attempt has been made to develop gastro retentive floating tablets of Doxofylline. HPMC K4M and carbopol were used as controlled release polymers. All the formulations were prepared by direct compression method on 12 station rotary tablet punching machine. The blend of all the formulations showed god flow properties such as angle of repose, bulk density, tapped density. The prepared tablets were shown good post compression parameters and they passed all the quality control evaluation parameters as per I.P limits. FH 5 was the best optimized floating formulation because it released drug completely in 12hrs.It was also observed that the increasing concentration of polymers had a retarding effect on the drug release from the polymer matrices.
