Zusammenfassung: Zeckenübertragende Erkrankungen spielen in Deutschland eine nicht unerhebliche Rolle beim Pferd. Mit dieser Arbeit sollten potentielle Risikofaktoren für Infektionen mit Borrelia burgdorferi sensu lato (Bbsl) und/oder Anaplasma phagocytophilum (Ap) bei Pferden in Deutschland erhoben werden. Mit Hilfe einer Besitzerbefragung infektionsverdächtiger bzw. klinisch auffälliger Pferde, sollten Hinweise auf Umweltfaktoren ermittelt werden, welche die Wahrscheinlichkeit einer Infektion bzw. eines positiven Antikörper (AK)-Nachweises spezifisch gegen Borrelien und/oder Anaplasmen erhöhen, um daraus evtl. Empfehlungen für geeignete Prophylaxemaßnahmen abzuleiten. In die Studie wurden Pferde aufgenommen, bei denen durch den Haustierarzt auf Grund der klinischen Veränderungen der Verdacht auf eine equine Lyme-Borreliose (ELB) und/oder Equine Granulozytäre Anaplasmose (EGA) bestand. Die Besitzer wurden gebeten, einen ausführlichen Fragebogen zu potenziellen Risikofaktoren, wie der Nutzung des Pferdes (inklusive Geländenutzung), Weidegang des Pferdes, Jahreszeit (bei Probennahme), Zeckenfunde/Zeckenexposition, Repellentieneinsatz und equine Lyme-Borreliose Impfung, zu beantworten. Zudem wurden alle Pferde labordiagnostisch untersucht. Dies erfolgte im Zweistufen-Verfahren. Bei allen Pferden wurden Blutproben mittels ELISA und Immunoblot auf Antikörper (AK) gegen Bbsl und zusätzlich mittels eines validierten Schnelltests (SNAP ® 4Dx Plus® ELISA) auf AK gegen Bbsl und Ap untersucht, um auch Koinfektionen sicher zu erkennen. Außerdem wurde ein Blutausstrich manuell auf Anaplasmen untersucht. Insgesamt nahmen 123 Besitzer mit einem ELB-verdächtigen Pferd an dieser Studie teil. Bei 21,1 % der Tiere wurden infektionsspezifische Bbsl-AK nachgewiesen (n = 26; n gesamt = 123). Ein positiver Ap-AK-Nachweis lag bei 19,5 % der Pferde vor. Ein Hinweis auf eine Koinfektion mit Bb und Ap konnte bei sieben Tieren (5,7 %) gefunden werden. Die verschiedenen Nutzungsarten, die Jahreszeit bei Probeneingang, den Weidezugang und die gefundene Zeckenzahl auf dem Tier, sowie Geschlecht, Rasse, und Fellfarbe wurden nicht als Risikofaktoren für eine ELB und/oder EGA bzw. einer Auseinandersetzung des Immunsystems mit einem der beiden Erreger identifiziert. Jungpferde (< 3 Jahre) waren allerdings deutlich häufiger Bbsl-seronegativ als der Populationsdurchschnitt. Mit zunehmendem Alter nahm die Häufigkeit positiver Bbsl-AK-Nachweise zu. Vergleichbare Beobachtungen konnten auch bei den Ap-AK-Nachweisen gemacht werden. Neben den Unterschieden in den Altersklassen wurde ein statistisch signifikanter Unterschied für die Regionen Nord-und Süddeutschland für Bbsl-Befunde (p = 0,022) und Koinfektions-Befunde mit AK gegen Bbsl und Ap (p = 0,001) festgestellt. Die Chance für einen positiven Bbsl-AK-Nachweis war in Süddeutschland 3,1-mal so hoch wie in Norddeutschland und die Chance für Koinfektionen 23,2-mal so hoch.
