Bionic Arm is the best revolution idea for amputees across the world. This is as close as we can get to our natural limb. This paper is about the study of the prosthetic arm used for amputees and gives an overview of upper limb evolution based on control technologies. It focused on the mechanical parameters like actuation system and prototyping techniques that are required to meet the design specifications. The drive systems which hold the key for proper functioning are described and their pros and cons are stated. A review of materials for prosthetic applications and role of 3D printing as a manufacturing method is discussed This would further enable to choose a system based on variables like dexterity, patient's need, a weight of the system and feasibility. Detailed research of robotic limb generation could help us to develop a prosthetic limb that mimics the salient features of the limb.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
