WF-mfERG may be useful for detecting retinal pathology in patients taking vigabatrin. The majority of previous reports based on subjective testing may have underestimated the prevalence of peripheral retinal toxicity related to the drug.
The DelApp test showed good performance, supporting the utility of objectively measuring attention in delirium assessment. This study provides evidence of the feasibility of using a smartphone test for attentional assessment in hospital inpatients with possible delirium, with potential applications in research and clinical practice.
SUMMARYBackground: Ocular side-effects in the form of retinal ischaemia and haemorrhages have been reported in patients undergoing standard a-interferon therapy. Aim: To assess the ocular impact of therapy with sustained release pegylated a-2a interferon (Pegasys) for chronic hepatitis C. Methods: Ten patients receiving Pegasys and ribavirin and 10 healthy volunteers were recruited. Patients underwent full ophthalmic investigations and multifocal electroretinogram testing at baseline, at regular intervals during treatment and post-treatment. The multifocal electroretinogram maps retinal function. Responses were compared with sequential recordings from healthy volunteers.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
