This paper describes a new method ofEDM with mesh-sheet electrode. Mesh-sheet of copper wire has splendid advantages of electrode making with its high ductility and malleability. First, EDM properties of mesh-sheet to zinc alloy have been examined to use as an electrode of machining. Mesh-sheet electrode gives very stable process, since generated debris and gas are excluded quickly through the woven wires. The expectation of lower electrode wear ratio to workpiece was also confirmed experimentally. Comparing to usual solid electrode made it clear that this method was very efficient in terms of machining speed and process. FinaIIy, a practical machining by means of meshsheet electrode was tried to make 3-dimensional molding die.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
