Peripheral facial paralysis causes asymmetry of the face affecting the upper and lower territories. Its management requires the completion of an initial clinical assessment in order to specify the topography, the severity of the involvement, the etiological nature and the possible complications. The knowledge and the mastery of the anatomo-physio-pathological bases makes it possible to understand the different clinical pictures. The rehabilitation must be started as early as possible, to accompany the various stages of sensitivo-motor recovery. It must be performed by a multidisciplinary team consisting of a physical and rehabilitation doctor, a neurologist, an otolaryngologist, a plastic surgeon, a physiotherapist, a speech therapist and a psychologist whose role is to to help the patient to accept the self-image, to recover confi dence and self-esteem and to encourage the resumption of socio-cultural-professional activities.
The goal of this work is to develop a complete and automatic scanning system with minimum prior information. We aim to establish a methodology for the automation of the 3D digitization process. The paper presents a method based on the evolution of the Bounding Box of the object during the acquisition. The registration of the data is improved through the modeling of the positioning system. The obtained models are analyzed and inspected in order to evaluate the robustness of our method. Tests with real objects have been performed and results of digitization are provided.
This paper addresses the view planning problem for the digitization of 3D objects without prior knowledge on their shape and presents a novel surface approach for the Next Best View (NBV) computation. The proposed method uses the concept of Mass Vector Chains (MVC) to define the global orientation of the scanned part. All of the viewpoints satisfying an orientation constraint are clustered using the Mean Shift technique to construct a first set of candidates for the NBV. Then, a weight is assigned to each mode according to the elementary orientations of its different descriptors. The NBV is chosen among the modes with the highest weights and which comply with the robotics constraints. Eventually, our method is generic since it is applicable to all kinds of scanners. Experiments applying a digitization cell demonstrate the feasibility and the efficiency of the approach which leads to an intuitive and fast 3D acquisition while moving efficiently the ranging device.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
