Subject The article considers the dependence of the migratory balance on economic, social and demographic parameters of regions and their impact on the migratory population growth. Objectives The article aims to determine the influence of socioeconomic and demographic parameters on the migration growth coefficients. Methods For the study, we used the methods of correlation and regression analyses. For evaluation, four models were used: pooled regression models, time-average variable deviation models, deterministic effect models, and random effect models. According to the Wald, Breusch-Pagan, and Hausman specification test results, the best model has been selected. Results We derived and now present a linear regression equation, reflecting the influence of eight socioeconomic and demographic factors on migration growth rate in the region. Conclusions and Relevance Economic, social, and demographic factors do impact on the migration attractiveness of regions. The causes of interregional migrations, previously being of employment nature, in recent years, get more associated with resettlement in favorable locations for long-term residence. The results of the study can be used by regional authorities in designing measures of socioeconomic and demographic policies. The resulting model can be supplemented in subsequent research with other economic, social, and demographic variables.
Subject. This article analyzes the relationship between the regions of Russia in terms of economic potential. Objectives. The article aims to find objective criteria for constructing a rating of Russian regions. Methods. To analyze statistical data, we used the taxonometry method. Results. The article presents a certain ranking of some regions of Russia in terms of economic indicators. Conclusions.
