Тhe purpose of the variety study of the introduced white wine grape variety Traminette, originate at Cornell University, New York, USA in 1965, was to analyze the feasibility of its cultivation in the conditions of the northern zone of the industrial viticulture of the Russian Federation, for which the next objective were set: study in concrete soil and climatic conditions agrobiological and economically valuable characteristic and properties of the Traminette variety, such as yield, plasticity, resistance to biotic and abiotic environmental factors, as well as assess the quality of the resulting dry wine. To facilitate the identification of this variety, we made an ampelographic description according to the leading features. Тhe study was carried out in 2019-2021 according to the methods generally accepted in viticulture and winemaking in the grafted nursery of the Novocherkassk Experimental Field of the All-Russian Research Institute named after Ya.I. Potapenko for Viticulture and Winemaking – Branch of Federal State Budget Scientific Institution «FRARC» (Novocherkassk, Rostov Region). Тhe plantations are non-covered, non-irrigated, grafted, obtained by green grafting on the planted rootstock Oppenheim CO-4, planting scheme 3×1.5 m, medium-bole bush fan-shaped, medium pruning (4-6 buds left on the spoor). Тhe technology of cultivation of vineyards is standard and generally accepted. Тhe white wine variety Traminette of early-medium terms of grape ripeness, according to the variety study in the conditions of Novocherkassk, demonstrated winter hardiness sufficient for non-covering vineyards (the average long-term percentage of bud break is 79.8 %), high yield (10.2 t/ha), and increased resistance to fungal diseases (powdery mildew, downy mildew – 3.0, botrytis 1.5), excellent points for assessing dry wine material (8.7). All this makes the Traminette variety promising for use in industrial production in non-covering culture, with a decrease in the number of sprays compared to classical varieties, to obtain high quality wines.
In a market-oriented economy, the success of table grape production is demand-driven, with most table grape consumers citing muscat fla-vor as the primary desirable trait. This article presents the ampelographic and agrobiological characteristics of the grape variety Blestyash-chiy breeding from All-Russian Research Insti-tute for Viticulture and Winemaking– Branch of Federal State Budget Scientific Institution «FRARC». It was obtained as a result of crossing the varieties Victoria and Original Be-lyi, allocated in the elite in 2005. Variety’s study was carried out according to generally accepted methods in the conditions of the No-vocherkassk, Rostov region at the experi-mental vineyards, the culture of vine is not ir-rigated, uncovered, grafted, rootstock Ber-landieri × Riparia Kober 5BB, the formation is the standard fan type on trunk. The grape vari-ety for table use, super early ripening period, is characterized by good winter- hardiness, high potential yield, attractive appearance of ber-ries, pronounced muscat aroma of berries. On a single-plane trellis, with a planting pattern of 3 m × 1.5 m, the yield from 1 bush averages 4.3 kg. Grape variety Blestyashchiy has a com-plete flower, large clusters of medium density, ellipse or ovoid berries of white-pink color, on the sunny side - bright red-pink, dense pulp. Differs in high sugar accumulation with mod-erate titrated acidity. Resistance to fungal dis-eases is average. Used for fresh consumption. The tasting rating of fresh grapes averages 8.6 points on a ten-point rating scale. Among the shortcomings, one can single out the tendency to overload the bushes with the harvest and the uneven coloring of the berries, which can be fought with special agrotechnical methods.
The most promising way to reduce the need for fungicides in viticulture is the use of re-sistant cultivars. In this regard, an urgent task is the selection of table grape varieties with increased resistance to diseases and frost in combination with high marketability and taste. The article discusses the results of a fif-teen-year study of the promising table variety Aladdin. The variety is interspecific hybrid obtained from a saturating crossing Vostorg krasnyy × Vostorg muskatniy at All-Russian Research Institute for Viticulture and Wine-making– Branch of Federal State Budget Sci-entific Institution «FRARC». The Aladdin variety was compared with the regionalized table variety Vostorg, which is also the paren-tal form in the second generation. The viticul-ture is not irrigated, grafted, not covered, the training is fan type on trunk, the planting scheme is 3 × 1.5 m. In the variety study, the methods generally accepted in viticulture and the standard technology of cultivation of vineyards were used. The Aladdin variety is distinguished by an early ripening period, large berries, medium-sized bunches, firm pulp, attractive berry color, light muscat aro-ma. The variety has a proven genetic high re-sistance to powdery mildew and mildew, high frost resistance is confirmed by the data of agrobiological records. According to the total-ity of economically valuable traits, resistance to unfavorable biotic and abiotic environmen-tal factors, the Aladdin variety can be recom-mended for transfer to the State variety test-ing of the Russian Federation.
