Existen en la actualidad una infinidad de sustancias con propiedades antimicrobianas de entre las cuales podemos encontrar a materiales de origen orgánico e inorgánico, dentro de las sustancias orgánicas se hace referencia a los antibióticos de origen natural o que son obtenidos de rutas sintéticas orgánicas; también tenemos a los de origen inorgánico de entre los cuales podemos encontrar a los metales cerovalentes o en su forma de óxido, siendo el mercurio el que más presenta letalidad para una gran cantidad de microorganismos. Se determina la actividad antimicrobiana de los óxidos de hierro y manganeso caracterizados por espectroscopia UV-Vis, determinando la densidad óptica cuando estos son expuestos en medio líquido a bacterias gram positivas y negativas, se determinan las propiedades bacteriostáticas de los óxidos de hierro y manganeso obtenidos por síntesis químico-biológica, los óxidos presentan un efecto inhibitorio en el crecimiento de bacterias gram positivas y negativas, efectos letales en los microorganismos no se aprecian por lo que el óxido se muestra como agente bacteriostático; los mismos podrían ser incluidos en otros materiales para inhibir el crecimiento de microorganismos indeseados, este proyecto es derivado de la colaboración de instituciones hidalguenses que conforman la red ingeniería de procesos avanzados de sistemas ambientales.
Como motor de cambio social las Instituciones de Educación Superior juegan un papel preponderante en la reconstrucción de las sociedades actuales, consideradas como un escenario clave para asentar las bases de una educación para la sustentabilidad frente al cambio climático. Es así que a partir de la adopción del protocolo de Kioto, se ha tenido por objetivo disminuir el aumento constante en el consumo de energía; así, la mejora de la eficiencia energética de los edificios públicos es importante para la promoción de una cultura sobre el tema entre la población local y más aún la eficiencia energética en los edificios escolares, porque son los lugares donde los jóvenes y profesionistas de hoy y del mañana son educados y tienen la oportunidad de aprender cómo llegar a ser ciudadanos con una conciencia ambiental. Por ello, la Universidad Tecnológica de Tula-Tepeji en su compromiso para la adopción al cambio climático ha realizado un diagnóstico del consumo total en KWh, consumo por persona, consumo en KWh/m2, así como un estudio para validar el ahorro energético para sustituir la tecnología en iluminación de los pasillos por energía renovable. Estructurando un módulo de Energía dentro del Programa de Educación Ambiental no Formal, con un enfoque cognoscitivo constructivista, centrado en el sujeto, con el cuál pueda contribuir a modificar cultura ambiental de sus estudiantes y personal administrativo específicamente en materia energética en primera instancia y posteriormente influenciar a la población aledaña y de la región, para con ello incursionar en la sociedad para promover el uso de las energías renovables y poder brindar herramientas para el transito hacia la adaptación al cambio climático.
La desactivación catalítica es un problema serio en las diferentes secciones del proceso de refinación del petróleo, que causa la pérdida de actividad catalítica con respecto al tiempo de operación. La presente revisión está enfocada en los mecanismos de desactivación de catalizadores, tales como envenenamiento, ensuciamiento, degradación térmica y sinterización, degradación química y fallas mecánicas como el desgaste y el aplastado del catalizador, en el craqueo catalítico fluidizado (FCC), la hidrodesulfuración (HDS) y el reformado catalítico. Las causas de estos mecanismos de desactivación catalítica son químicos, térmicos y mecánicos. Se revisan las características y consideraciones clave para cada uno de estos tipos de mecanismos de desactivación. Además, el costo total por la desactivación catalítica aumenta gradualmente cada año debido al remplazo del catalizador gastado, generando miles de toneladas de desechos industriales.
