-The optimization of wire electrical discharge machining (WEDM) parameters for AISI 316 stainless steel using Taguchi's robust design approach is proposed. Experimentation is planned as per Taguchi's L27 orthogonal array. Each experiment has to be performed under different process parameters of pulse on time, pulse off time, pulse peak current, wire tension and wire feed rate. Two responses namely material removal rate and surface roughness (Ra) were considered for each experiment. The optimum machining parameter combination is obtained by using the analysis of signal-to-noise (S/N) ratio. The level of importance of the machining parameters on the material removal rate and surface roughness is determined by using analysis of variance (ANOVA).
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
