On the territory of Serbia, the Cornelian cherry (Cornus mas L.) populations grow at different locations and on a variety of geological substrates and they represent a large and important genetic potential for use in breeding programs of this fruit species. Collection and study of Cornelian cherry genotypes, introduction of best selections in commercial production, and preservation of genetic variability are activities that could improve the existing fruit gene pool. In the Vojvodina Province, over 200 Cornelian cherry genotypes have been monitored at all stages of growth and development. Large variability has been observed in all morphological and chemical characteristics under study. This paper deals with 10 Cornelian cherry genotypes, which showed best morphological characteristics in a three-year study (2007)(2008)(2009)), which will be used for the development of standard Cornelian cherry varieties in Serbia.

(Prague), 37: 1-5.The domestic population of walnut ( Juglans regia L.) in Serbia is highly heterogeneous as a result of many centuries of propagation from seed. This paper describes variation observed in this population over the past four decades. The date of budbreak showed a 50-day range, and the date of leaf drop a 32-day range. Average nut weight ranged from 3.3 g to 29.0 g and the kernel percentage from 26.2% to 64.3%. The number of female flowers per inflorescence ranged from 1 to 32 and the number of nuts per cluster from 1 to 15. The majority of Serbian walnut seedlings had inferior traits, although a few genotypes with excellent traits were also found. Five superior selections have been released as cultivars, and additional selections await official release. To date, over 1,000 ha of orchards have been planted in Serbia using these walnut cultivars and selections.
The main objective of this exploratory study was to identify and analyse the indicators of intellectual capital in food industry of Serbia. The study investigated managers' perceptions of their usefulness, practical application, and factors that influence them. The respondents were surveyed by means of a questionnaire. They were mainly top managers from 18 food organizations, committed to the bioeconomy paradigm. The survey items were divided into three subcategories, namely human, structural, and relational capital. The data were analysed by the SPSS 21 statistical software. The results show that all indicators were perceived as very important, relational capital indicators being the most useful of all. Of all individual items, employee motivation, market share, and employee satisfaction were perceived as the most important. This study provides a perspective on managing intellectual capital in bioeconomy.
