In this present work graphite reinforced functionally graded epoxy composites are developed by simple hand lay-up technique. Investigations on wear characteristics of graphite reinforced homogeneous epoxy composites and its functionally graded composite materials developed are presented. The effect of various operational parameters and their interactive influences on specific wear behavior of these composites has been studied systematically. The experimental results indicate that the weight loss increases with increase in load, sliding speed and abrading distance.A plan of experiment based on the technique of central composite design (CCD), was performed to obtain data in controlled way. A standard array, analysis of variance (ANOVA) and response surface methodology were used to investigate the influence of process parameters on the wear of these composites. The results shows that the addition of graphite as a filler material in glass epoxy composite will increases the wear resistance of the composite greatly because the addition of graphite acts as self-lubricating agent during frictional condition & automotive.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
