The TEM analysis and dilatometric measurements of submicron grained nickel prepared by severe plastic deformation indicate that heating induces the transformation of nonequilibrium grain boundaries to relative equilibrium boundaries. These changes correlate with changes in the saturation magnetization. The nature of this dependence is discussed with respect to the existence of a thin distorted layer in the vicinity of the nonequilibrium boundaries of a submicron grained (SMG) metal.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
