Voltage sags can be measured by the probability to generate an interruption of a process or equipment. Such quantification is known as severity. Recently, the new standard IEEE Std 1564-2014 Guide for Voltage Sag Indices determines the indicators for assessing the severity of voltage sags and the method of its calculation as well. In this paper, its implementation is presented for the analysis of the severity index at a substation of the local area network operator. This analysis allows an assessment of the state of the voltage quality at the point of common coupling of a commercial customer. Based on this assessment, the relationship between the severity index in the substation and the point of common coupling is obtained. Finally, considerations about present measurement standards that determine the proper use of such standard practice are presented
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
