In commonly used short-circuit current calculation methodology, the acceptance of a short-circuit site in the middle of their length leads not only to a significant overestimation of short-circuit currents, but also does not guarantee the selective coordination of electrical apparatus and its proper protection function against electrical shock. The paper presents new approach to the problem of calculation short-circuit current in parallel cables. It is proven that the worst case scenario is highly influenced by the number of cables connected in parallel.
