A realização do 57º Congresso Brasileiro de Dermatologia, em Porto Alegre, cidade onde nasceu e exerceu a Medicina o notável médico e professor H. Annes Dias, é uma oportunidade para relembrar a obra e as contribuições pessoais deixadas por essa grande personalidade. Seu legado está em suas "Lições de Clínica Médica" em cinco volumes, editados a partir de 1926 pela benemérita Livraria Globo de Porto Alegre, RS.O conteúdo dessa obra interessa a todos aqueles que desejarem conhecer a grandeza e os mais profundos conhecimentos médicos. O que desejo, entretanto, é falar daquilo que interessa aos dermatologistas, cuja importância ficou no esquecimento de muitos.Refiro-me ao "Síndrome de Annes Dias" (Méd. Cut. ILA. Nº 5-1974; páginas 399-402), reunindo, numa só denominação, a interdependência de importantes descobertas do grande clínico, quais sejam: acidose, candidíase oral, soluço. A acidose, no caso, é detectada pelo pH da saliva, abaixo de 05 (cinco); esta acidez favorece o crescimento de Cândida albicans, o micróbio que vive em meio ácido e que pode ser constatado ao exame direto do exudato branco; o soluço é a resposta espasmódica ao distúrbio acidósico.A mensagem contida no "Síndrome de Annes Dias" a todos os médicos e, em especial, aos dermatologistas é que A CANDIDÍASE ORAL NO ADULTO É SINTOMA DE ACIDOSE. A candidíase oral na criança lactente, chamada "sapinho" ou "muguet", é somente devido à presença, na saliva, do ácido lático do leite; no adulto, é devido à acidose orgânica.
