Water hyacinth (Eichhornia crassipes), known as Pani meteka in assamese, is a free-floating aquatic weed found in almost every state including Assam with vast water bodies where in it causes havoc especially in the fisheries, choke lakes and provide a breeding ground for mosquitoes. However, the stem of water hyacinth can be used as the raw material for making the most important value added products like ladies hand bags, purse, mobile covers, file covers, hand fans etc. This can not only boost up the handicraft sector and the artisans but also create employment avenues and can also fetch good foreign exchange. In this context, a study was attempted to examine the participation of rural women in water hyacinth enterprises for uplifting the economic status of their families with special reference to the Darrang district of Assam. Two nos of localities namely-Hussain chuburi and Duni from Pachim Mangaldai development block has been purposively selected on the basis of the training, demonstrations and exhibition conducted by Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Darrang for the year 2011-12, 2012-13 and 2013-14. The primary data were collected through questionnaires filled up through personal interview. It was observed that the number of rural women engaged as small entrepreneurs in water hyacinth enterprises after training and demonstration was 9 and 8 in locality-1 and 2, respectively. It can be concluded that 24 per cent, and 27 per cent of income were shared from water hyacinth enterprises into the family's total income from all the sources in locality 1 and locality-2, respectively.

The present study was conducted in Jorhat district of Assam. Total of 120 respondents were selected for the study. The objective of the study was to see the number of respondents belonging to two different professions (government and private) who have registered Atal Pension Yojana (APY) scheme and to study the attitude of respondents towards different aspects of APY scheme. It was found that most of the respondents under the two different professions have registered APY scheme. It was also found that they have favorable attitude towards different aspects of APY scheme. However, it was observed that some respondents have not yet registered the scheme as they are not familiar with the banking system and also due to low rate of interest of the scheme. Z- test also showed significant difference in the attitude towards the benefits through APY scheme between government and private employees.
Mobile phones being the key components of the user's life have made life much easier. They are considered to be one of the most significant devices available that tends to make a huge difference in our day to day activity. Moreover, users prefer mobile phones due to many governing factors like portability, compactness, cost effective, user friendly, user satisfaction and much more. Additionally, mobile phones have become the center of attraction for the upcoming generation and the mobile phone seems to serve our communication needs better than any other communication technologies available in the market. Further, mobile phone usage provides us with a wealth of information just at the tip of our finger and our kin are found to be just a click away from us. Connecting to acquaint has become much simple and quick by the virtue of mobile phones. This study aims to understand the relationship between demographic characteristics of students and mobile use pattern as well as to understand the effect of mobile phone use pattern on interpersonal communicationamong students. The results show that mobile phone use pattern is completely a personal choice of the user and mobile phone use pattern shows significant association with gender and age, whereas, educational level is seen to have little or no influence on the mobile use pattern. Furthermore, significant impact of mobile phone on interpersonal communication of the student has been found in the study.
Resilience is the ability of an object to withstand tension or compression forces and ultimately resume its original shape. In the domain of social science related to human behavior resilience refers to the personal qualities that enable to thrive in the face of adversity. In the context of family, parental resilience is the ability to gainfully cope with and bounce back from all types of challenges. It is about creatively solving problems, building trusting relationships, maintaining a positive attitude, and seeking help when it is needed. The study was conducted in Jorhat district of Assam and 100 adolescents of 14-16 years having both the parents, thus a parents sample of 200 parents were selected as samples by following purposive sampling method under non probability sampling technique. The study aimed at assessing the extent of parental resilience and studying the relationship of parental resilience and demographic characteristics of the parents. Self constructed questionnaire was used to collect the data comprising demographic characteristics and self constructed interview schedule based on Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale (CD-RISC) was used to assess parental resilience. Results indicated that the majority of the parents (78%) possess average level of parental resilience while 10.5% and 11.5% possess high and low level of resilience respectively. It was also revealed that there is a significant association of the demographic variables -education, occupation and income with parental resilience. Therefore, parental resilience plays an important role in facing daily challenges, solving problems and bouncing back from certain adversities in the family.
